LSU-Clemson Natty Game Thread

LSU was the better team, but it didn't help Clemson that LSU benefitted from some questionable officiating, plus it was practically a home game for the Bayou Tigers.

All these season-long records ... Well yeah now that you have more games in a season and multiple postseason games.

For example, 2005 Texas still scored more per game even though the rules were less biased towards the offense than they are now. Also played in fewer close games (ditto for 2001 Miami). But everyone will be talking like 2019 LSU is the best offense or best team of the BCS/playoff era.

Because they were, your team was very lucky to win the last game, haven’t seen ANY comments comparing LSU to that team, all season.

Ummm, Higgins got hit in the.......,,,thigh

Right. And the announcers and the rule analyst were both emphasizing "It doesn't matter that Skalski hit him in the chest, if you lower your head and hit with the crown then it's targeting anywhere from head to toe"

Lucky to win last game? Lost all credibility with that. Go celebrate with other LSU fans dork.

Edit: The lack of comparison between the two teams is pointless. You think you’ll convince UT fans that 2019 LSU is better than 05 Horns, and vice versa? Go play in a swamp

I'll just say that if that was targeting, then there have been half a dozen missed targeting calls in this game, including the one that knocked Higgins out for most of the quarter.
Targeting penalties are obviously well-intentioned but at the same time are becoming more influential on a game’s outcome than anything minus inclement weather. Yes, I know the difference between the two (“controllable” vs uncontrollable). Then again, I think a lot of these hits aren’t ill-intentioned and just guys playing football.

After watching some older Horns’ highlights, Michael Griffin would’ve been ejected from every game. Just such a sudden change in officiating and in how games play out. That said, I’d be surprised if any Clemson fan bitched about the one on their LB after getting a gift-wrapped call in the semifinal against that OSU DB.

Edit: Maybe gift-wrapped is the wrong adjective because it was the correct call according to the rule, but I personally don’t think Wade was out to injure Lawrence

I said it after our game vs them and I'll say it again...
Great season and great championship for LSU, but their fans, thuggish ways of players, and just the general vibe around that team...is offensive, dishonorable, and disgusting...not to mention wholly dislikable. Be proud of the accomplishment if you are LSU, because that's about all you can be proud of. Its been a while since I've been so disgusted by such lack of class, respect for others and the game, and sportsmanship. True colors showed through this season and it was an ugly sight. I'll prepare myself for more of the same next September. I grew up with family down there and always had a healthy respect for the people and the program. Not anymore. ...Shameful.

What happened? Like to you personally at the game or watching them on TV?

Burrow def needs an ego check. That ring finger pointing thing he did was gay

No, just observing them all season, the many stories of fan behavior, players actions before, during, and after games.
And what was the Burrow thing? I didn't see it.. I honestly turned it off at halftime because they so disgust me.
He seems like a real prick...great player though. They'll have a hard time replacing him. Very few college QBs can do what he did this year. Just take that 3rd and 17 vs us... There's a reason Orgeron said he knew they had a chance to win a natty after that play.
Still I don't like him....or them.

Penalties
LSU 11-118
CLEM 7- 65

Timing on some of those Clemson penalties was tough, but I don't think officials played a big part in the game.
