Loston

Not true, while we are not his favorite right now, he is expected to attend the UT junior day this weekend. Our chances of getting him will increase greatly if we land Shepard.

Not every kid being recruited out of High School is going to want to go to UT, Ou, Aggy... it just is not gonna happen.

Mack recruits those that express that they are interested and meet his criterion of expectation... he truly seeks those atheletes that want to be here.

Forget sour grapes from kids, there desire to attend other universities is fine... it makes rivalries exist on the field and not just in the stands!!

Houston's pretty aggy-centric, and some of the high school players there buy into the anti-Longhorns attitude. It's hard for us to understand, but not every good player wants to wear burnt orange. Besides, it's early yet...Loston may change his mind, especially if his cousin commits to the good guys.

actually its not just houston. before i starting attending UT it seemed the majority of people in dallas were aggie/OU fans. well, at least in my little part of plano.

I think when you get some of that aggy mojo (sorry, Permian fans) blowing southeast and mixing with whatever it is that comes off of the ship channel, it jacks with the minds of some of the Houston high school athletes. That's the only plausible explanation for voluntarily wanting to play for aggy...or hate on Texas.

We are recruiting him, but he has said he's an OU lean. I'd think if we had landed Rod Davis our odds would have improved and if we are able to land Timmons our odds improve, but the key will be Shepard if we can land Shep I'd think he'd be in Loston's ear all year trying to sway him to come win an NC with him at UT.

Shepard, to me, is the key to this recruiting class. Seems to have a presence around him similar to VY. I'd think if we can land Shepard a lot of guys will follow him and commit to UT. Could be Mack's best class ever.

I agree, but even with Shepard I think it will be tough to land Loston. I believe Loston already canceled his Jr. Day invite today and has said negative things about UT on numerous occasions. What I'm hoping for is to land Shepard and watch Loston go to an SEC school or something. I believe I read they may not want to play at rival schools FWIW...of course we need to get Shepard first...

Why the hell would some Texas kid dislike UT? What - do they dislike good academics, a nice city, pretty girls, good coaches, etc.? I can certainly understand a natural aversion to the weirdos in College Station or the cheating basket-weavers in Norman, but UT? That's just demented.

Loston will follow the advise of his cousin (Poole) & attend OU.
He has publically said he wants to win titles & OU is the only consistent place that is happening.
Early rankings show him the #3 prospect overall in the country.

He had an interview on SS where he said he comitted to aggy to get early exposer because OU hadn't offered him yet & it pissed him off because he's been up there so many times.
After OU offered him he de-comitted the next day & started working on a fellow D1 prospect on hius team who also was comitted to aggy to go North.
I'd say the 2 sure bets OU has OOS is Justin Chaisson, who is a 4/5 DE from the same school as DeMarco & Reynolds & has his former coach on OU's staff & will be a beast & Loston who some experts think is the top prospect overall in Texas who is also a cousin of former OU player Brodney Poole.

I hope this isn't too off-topic. But as a matter of strategy, what is the best approach to take toward talented instate recruits who openly disdain UT? Not saying Loston falls into this category. What I am wondering is, is it advantageous to go ahead and court the young man? Simply to let him know we respect his ability and there are no hard feelings? Seems like maybe that would be a good strategy, in the long run. For all I know, this is our policy already.

Then again, perhaps I am underestimating the limited nature of resources that can be devoted to recruiting.

Both of them have publically said to be high on OU & want to see more as well as Pachall & Rollison who if OU takes a QB in this class will be either one of them.
