Looks like #4 is Case McCoy

Sam was taken to sit as Bomar's backup.
Colt was taken to sit as Perriloux's backup.

Case McCoy seems like he sucks.

Many OU fans looked at Sam's numbers as a senior and wondered if he'd amount to much.

It's not always about the quarterback. Bad numbers, especially for a pocket-passer, can be more a by-product of a bad supporting cast than anything else.

I think Connor Wood was always OU's to lose, anyway. This would seem only to affirm those rumors.

I don't particularly care why McCoy was recruited...All I need to know is he's a McCoy. Daddy is Brad...big bro is Colt...I'm very happy if he has indeed committed...I wouldn't want to see ANY McCoy dressed out in a horrible maroon jersey. By the way, Rivals still isn't showing Case as committed...any word on that?

So does Shipley have a brother we can offer so we can keep talking about them being roommates...?

Looks like Jaxon had decent stats for his Soph year on the varsity. He is listed at 6'0" 170 lbs. which means he is 5'10" and 160 lbs. but no doubt he will grow some more before he hits the 40 Acres

This sits well with me. I remember all the questions about Colt when he was offered. A huge Burnt Orange welcome to Case.

I guess a lot of you doubters do not realize that Case has offers from some really big schools. Texas is not his only option. Word is he had offers from Florida St and possibly Florida. Pretty sure they aren't recruiting him because of Colt.

I trust Mack on this one. Give me a coaches son QB who has been upfront about the pressure he would have since he is Colt's younger brother. There was even a quote of his where he said he realized that not everyone got to live a fairytale like Colt. He understands what he is up against and is willing to take it on!!

Besides, can you imagine if we let him go to aggy and he went Colt on us?

Some times loyalty is a better quality that cut-throat efforts to win. I have no idea what Case's talent level is or why he was given an offer, but if Mack gave him an offer to be loyal to Colt I would have no problem with it. If he is starting as a jr, has an awesome older brother to mentor him, and his dad is a coach, I am sure he can be at least a solid backup. Colt has been our fearless leader and a great asset to this team. He has provided the leadership we need and is the face of the program. Offering a scholly to his lil bro probably isn't against our best interest and lets Colt know that the program doesn't just care about getting all they can from him and then forgetting about him. Just sayin.

Its unfortunate people here are talking about how Case just got an offer because of his brother. Im not in Texas anymore so I dont know anything about the kid. But I think the fact he was given an offer from us, and Florida and FSU were after him should tell you hes very talented. He already has an offer from Auburn and A&M.
Stop making him live in his brother's shadow. Colt is amazing, but if youve been following recruiting for some time, you know Colt was considered average coming in and definitely not Texas standard. As Mack mentioned at his new conference, stop focusing on the stars Rivals and Scout shows and trust people who've done an amazing job for the last decade to continue to do a great job in the next decade...
Welcome Case! Most of us Longhorns are looking forward to you wearing the ol' burnt orange and throwing a few TDs in the future as you deserve this offer!

According to the Lone Star site, Case McCoy had offers from Texas A&M, Arizona, Auburn and Colorado State, and was being recruited by Texas Tech, Nebraska, Florida and Florida State. One blurb mentioned Urban Meyer as showing heavy interest in McCoy.
This does not sound like strictly a "legacy" scholarship to me.
He is rated #89 on Burnt Orange Beat, and #43 on Lone Star.
We need more "legacies" like this one.
Besides, he can get his apartment all set up for Jaxon Shipley to be his roommate for the next seven years of his eligibility.

I wonder how many QBs for 3-7 3A teams with a 17/10 TD/int. ratio not named McCoy do we plan to offer scholarships? Face it, guys, I don't care who his brother is, or how many big-time programs are supposedly "recruiting" him, Case McCoy's stats are pedestrian.

We've only recruited one QB, to my knowledge, in the past 10 years from a losing team, and Sherrod Harris has yet to get any serious PT.

One thing we know about the McCoy boys is that they don't shy away from competition. Gotta love that. Maybe Gilbert will be his backup some day. Competition is good for every position.

It was widely assumed that Colt would backup up Perriloux when he was recruited. Colt got a huge break when Perriloser bailed

Plus Vince cutting out a year early

I have no idea whether Case is any good.

However, we are comparing stats at different schools. If the team is only 3-7, then it tells me either that they have a talent problem or a coaching problem. The coach at least was successful previously. If the QB has no one to throw to, then they are going to have a hard time putting up good numbers.

As for why other schools have offered, I would be surprised if Case is not getting more attention because of his brother. The gene pool has been proven. Kind of like how kids of former NFL stars get an extra look.

Anyway, Case should be a Longhorn in 11 to 18 months. Welcome aboard.
