Longhorns vs. Cajuns

First half was about what I expected. Nothing really stood out but made steady progress. I think second half is going to be more dominant for Texas.

First half thoughts:

OL has issues.

Dicker needs to make those.

Pace of play isn't going to work against teams like OU, who struggled when Tulane was playing hurry-up but not when they were using all of the play clock.

Card is doing as well as he can, but I don't think it's good enough to make us a Top-10 team. He'll need some help in order to achieve that.

Defense is ok but that last series showed we can't get the kind of pressure that ULL is getting. Way too much time for a mobile QB to find his way.

Card was better than I expected. He was more than solid. He was pretty damn good. JWitt sighting sure helps. OLine was pathetic, we lost 7 on the punt return and Dicker misses the FG. We have 10 more points we lost on special teams and this game is over. Those points you can't get back but at least we got TDs in the red zone.

For those complaining about Tim Brando. He's from Shreveport, still lives there. I hate when he calls Texas games, for the reasons many of you have posted about today. Spencer Tillman is an ou grad, so he's an *** by nature.

Sounds like we’re getting what we thought - mediocre o-line, solid QB, when we stay ahead of the chains we’re tough. Defense has been good but let’s be honest, U-La has not been good on offense. They have left plays on the field.

Concerned but not worried yet. If we get a good drive to start, get a score, I think we will wear them out down the stretch. Just need to make sure this thing isn’t in too much doubt going into the fourth quarter.

Just jumping on.

Card has been outstanding, particularly given his lack of protection. I was a CT guy but I am really impressed.

Flood needs to tweak the OL, and perhaps pull some players.

The Fox crew is the worst they have, and Brando is terrible.

I think we could blow these guys out in the 2nd half. I expect better protection and more explosive plays from Bijan.

My take: u la’s offense has been shut down by our very good defense

Card has 2 TD’s 165 in yards, and 1st down run on 4th. And while it wasn’t a fumble, he still had the wherewithal to find the ball and jump on it. Oh, and it’s his first start. Not good enough? Bare to differ so far.

I would like to see a few tight end catches.
See a few more QB rushes to keep the defense honest and a few more passes to Bijan

Anyone think TH is still the coach if JWhitt doesn't get hurt and LJH would have stayed one more year. Those dudes are difference makers

We could have Alabama type talent and Herman would still find a way to piss everybody off, so, no, I don’t think he would still be here.

But back to the game…

One thing I’m noticing is that this team is a LOT better at making up for bad plays and playing behind the sticks. Holding calls and even short losses or procedure calls used to kill drives pretty regularly, but we’ve had two where we had to overcome a bunch of negative plays and still got the scores.
