The article states that one in six Americans is sickened by food products annually, so trying to claim Blue Bell is somehow the exception in an otherwise highly safe and clean food industry is not, in fact, accurate.
If anyone expects the federal government to be the sole guardian of our food supply, they are fooling themselves. It is the responsibility of farmers, ranchers, manufacturers, retailers, and food service outlets collectively to create a safe food chain. There is no amount of federal oversight that can guarantee this for all citizens. They are only capable of creating guidelines and enforcing them retroactively. Again, private industry has to work ethically to prevent these outbreaks from occurring for it is not only in the interest of public health, but also the long term health of their business.
yes, F them.
