The point of the 1/2 brother sister thing was to a prompt your thinking about why we can't co-exist, why we as races, classes, individuals can't live together, why we can't get along. Is it because we are so different, so disconnected, or is it the opposite, because we are so connected by our history, by our baggage. It is what joins us that drives us apart.

In other words, "Forget the Alamo."

Bingo Mac. His next best performance was in the lead-in to the '06 Rose Bowl where he shined in comparison with Ferrell. It was almost too long though.

We seem to be on the same wavelength this weekend, but your frequency is, of course, much higher. (I have a vague feeling that makes no sense, electrically speaking.)

Almost as great as The Last Picture Show, which of course is the greatest Texas movie ever.

That and Lone Star are a good starting place for the Texan wannabe.

Interesting. I had never seen either Lone Star or The Last Picture Show as of a week ago - and both are on my DVR. Watched Lone Star last week. Guess I'll watch Last Picture Show tonight.

If you like the LPS, it's fun to read the other books as the characters age. Texasville and Duanne's Depressed are not literature, and are kind of silly compared to the LPS, but they are absolutely hilarious.

After the first few posts on this thread, I threw Lone Star into the ol' queue. Watched it last night.

Wow. Greatness. I could write essays about the intricacies of the relationships, racial tensions, etc. This movie accomplished every societal statement that Crash totally failed to.

Don't know how I missed this one for so long.
