Rob Vaughn, nice! Out of Dallas I recall Kelly Reverb and Ed, later Ed Crunk. Ed had good selections in house if I recall correctly.

This is the first House song I ever heard: The Link

I was pulling duty in Basic (Boot Camp) at an Ammo bunker with a kid out of Chicago. His brother worked at the Warehouse, where it was invented. His brothers "friends" made music called "House", he told me when he explained what I had just heard. I was listening to New Order and he was listening to this off of a mixtape recored the week or two before and mailed to him. I think it was Frankie Knuckles but I don't remember completely who it was.

I asked him ahead of time what he was listening to and he said, "House Music, yo!". I asked the later to be asked a bajillion times, "What is House Music?". I found out that day and my life was never the same after that. This was in 1987. I would start to dj a couple of years after that.

You guys may enjoy this site. It has some great dj's laying down some really good sets. There is a little bit of everything for probably everybody. Good background music while doing things for sure.

July 3rd Saturday edition of the Wall Street Journal. Page W12 (Leisure and Arts) has an article the Electric Daisy Carnival discussing many of these bands from the perspective of what is success in the music industry.

I like that it has gone pretty much underground again. Not to the wonderful status it had before going mainstream for a minute but still, much nicer than it was.

Thanks for the article. Will read it later today after Futbol.

i used to raid white labels at Alien on payday. That was 96-2000, before I was really scoping music on the interwebs. Then 00-02 was used bins and DJ hacks offloading their wears. Then 2002-2006 was trust the dj compilations and mix sets from epitonic.com. RIP vinyl collect 2006. 2006- present = itunes. Not the same as the wax crack though.

It's addictive, that's for sure. I have surely spent enough on music to pay off my house. I don't regret it though. I don't regret the nearly 20 crates of records I have given away over the years either as long as the people I gave them to still appreciate and play them.

Ah "futbol". The football Association aka "Soccer" to many Englishmen until the 60s. They migrated to calling it football, we kept the term soccer.
