I thought it might be cool to have a thread to list everyone's favorite house/electronic music as a kind of resource for people to check out and find some great music they didn't know was out there. This is not an overhyped genre like Pop, Hip Hop or Rap so many people don't even know this music is out there. I have party's all the time where I am playing my favorite house music and every time people come up to me and ask me who this is and where they can get it.I will list below some of my favorite artists and tracks, there are a ton of different types of house so I will list some from each. I am also excited about a brand new release out today by Groove Armada called "Black Light". One of the tracks is "Shameless" by the great Bryan Ferry formerly of Roxy Music. I have listed to two tracks so far and they are both awesome, the other being "History" with Will Young.Top Ten Favorite Artists:1) Kaskade (basic house, dance)2) Miguel Migs (aka Petalpusher) (basic house, dance, trip hop)3) Summer of Space - featuring my favorite singer on the planet Haley Gibbs, Kaskade uses her in at least half of his songs) (house, ambient)4) Late Night Alumni - another Kaskade project featuring my second favorite voice on the planet Becky Jean Williams (house, dance, downbeat)5) Blue Six - (deep house, downbeat)6) Samantha James - (house, dance)7) Armin Van Buren -(dance, trance)8) Everything But The Girl - (house, dance - they made the switch to this genre after a semi-successful career in pop and it has paid off big time)9) Deep Dish - (dance)
10) iiO
- (dance, trance - lead singer Nadia Ali may have the sexiest voice on the planet)

well, i've been listening for damn near 20 years now, so things change for sure. no place in my world for trance anymore, except when i want to reminisce. these days it is mostly all dubstep, new style breaks, and drum and bass. having said that, dubstep is DEFINITELY my favorite genre these days.

here is what it sounds like when Caspa gets a hold of a Kaskade track:

caspa

Digitalism, Rusko, MGMT, AC Slater, Caspa, Hybrid, Marcus Intalex, High Contrast, John B, Underworld.....

BTW, Rusko is playing at Trees on 4/30. if you haven't been to a dubstep show, you haven't even begun to understand bass.

i guess i could make a list of 500 tracks that i love, but i'm too lazy.

notreally, that is a great track kaskade did a couple of songs with deadmau5 that turned out great but kaskade (ryan raddon) is a little peaved with him because kaskade promoted the hell out of their stuff and also deadmau5 but he didn't reciprocate at all so i doubt they will be doing anything else together.

i find myself listening to mainly deep house like blue six more than anything. central living is another great deep house band. when i want to really get deep i put on something from "nightmares on wax"

notreally, can I share your Tecktonik video? You are quite the dancer to the music you love.

You won't see any obese people doing this for very long! Melbourne Shuffle. Usually you see really baggy pants but these two are so good they don't need the extra stuff. Imagine doing this for awhile? Quite a workout.

baggy pants and well, um, not into this but to each their own:

For the EBTG fan, if you like jungle you will like this if you don't already have it.

I'm trying to decide whether this thread is real, or if it's just a ruse to smoke out the "Jersey Shore" folks among us.

Sometimes in the car, I'll turn the radio off and leave my signal indicator on. That's as good as any techno/house/electronica music out there.

i wonder if my liberal atheist high IQ post on quacks can be related here in the form of displaying some type of unconventional music elitism. probably.

believers like nickelback. i want bass, bass, and more bass.

My liberal atheist high-IQ sensibilities harken back to the smooth grooves of Captain & Tennille. Unconventional? Maybe. But in your secret moments, standing naked in front of the bathroom mirror with some fine cannabis and a mug of A&W (it's okay, we all do this), you know that Muskrat Love speaks to your inner dinky-doo in a special way.

That, or Groove Armada's Dusk You & Me.

great tune, Dusk, you and me, thanks for that...Dionysus you need to check out Groove Armada's brand new album "Black Light", its amazing

How the hell did I manage to leave off St. Germain? Paris has such an amazing scene and I now regret not putting Dimitri From Paris as well. Daft Punk, Laurent Garnier, Alex Cortiz, Alex Gopher, Air, Cassius...ah, Paris.

I wade through Jamendo's stuff, and I typically find a lot that appeals to me. I don't even try to classify the music that I listen to any more, but I have found stuff on there that I really, really like.

I should not have put Cortiz on that list as he is not French. He gets confused quite often with Alex Cortex. That is very understandable. Their music is very different most times so name is where the similarities end.

Here is some Cortex and Cortiz.

Great thread.

I saw Scotty Boy last Saturday whom my friend raves about and he fits more of the "party DJ" mold but he was entertaining to listen to.

Have seen Kaskade three times in the past 18 months and he does a great job of playing to the crowd, which I belive seperates the great DJ's from the good ones. His late night mix on Serius radio Saturday night is greatness. Wish I could see him at WMC this year.

Some of my favorites in no particular order:

Kaskade (as mentioned above)
Dave Dresden (love his progressive beats - I need to check him out in San Fran since he never comes to Texas)
DeadMau5 (my friend mentioned he was a punk during the Groove Cruise last year and he finished his set at midnight at the HOB-Dallas.........oh well..............I still love his music)
Tiesto (probably gives the best presentation of anyone I've seen)
Axwell (tore it up at WMC last year)
Bob Sinclair
Robbie Rivera
Daft Punk
Klaas
Adam K
Soha
Benny Bennasi

Ronski Speed
Oceanlab
Jaytech
Ferry Corsten
Armin Van Buuren
Boom Jinx
Stoneface and Terminal
Above and Beyond
Paul Van Dyk (Coming to Austin soon)
