Taps also seems upset that Texans were taking care of Texans, with the feds taking a backseat (unlike other cases where local government screwed the pooch and wanted federal bailouts). I'm not a Sylvester Turner fan but I cannot really complain about the manner in which he has handled this situation.

And if Taps took the time to listen to the press conferences, he would realize that there is very little mention of ANYTHING related to federal assistance. I cannot speak to Rockport and its devastation, but even the CNN coverage have very little mention other than FEMA had staff onsite. Most rescue efforts were being performed by local entities...

It has to further chap him that Abbott has ALSO handled this situation relatively well.

Cruz is a slimey, unprincipled MF. I guarantee you that not only would Tom Coburn vote against the Sandy relief, he'd vote against federal aid to Oklahomans as well. I can disagree with Dr. Coburn but I can at least respect him.

I guess all those people stranded on top of roofs, hospitals, homes, and cars were all saved by "Texans" give me a break. And once again, I must have been dreaming when I saw and heard Abbott say that Trump had given him every thing he asked for yesterday. Also, it's quite telling that Abbott didn't want to talk about the lack of evacuations today prior to the hurricane arriving which was a criticism of Katrina.

This is a dumb thread. Not sure how anyone can introduce racism amidst a burgeoning humanitarian disaster related to the hurricane. Seriously, this is an all-hands-on-deck moment and that appears to be occurring, thankfully.
