late to practice

Unfortunately, you have to set the example even if it hurts the team. The rest of the team can now step in and take over the culture. Herman did not hurt the team. These two players did. How do the rest of them feel? They should now police themselves.

This. And in addition, the point he's trying to drive home is that it matters in games how you practice. If you're showing up late, you're not focused, you're not practicing like you should, you're wasting practice time, and that inevitably hurts game performance. If you're so talented that you can slack off in practice and play well, that's fine for you, but it's a horrible influence on the team. Everyone needs to be on the same page with the same level of effort. So yeah, it stings. But the point I think is that it also hurts when you're not practicing with the right mentality.

Oklahoma benched Murray for 1 series for the same thing? our guys get a full quarter.

We'll be in an even bigger hole after 1Q now.

Do you not ground your teenagers if they have big plans with other people?

Of course the consequences of your actions have repercussions for others. Including the 7yo. This is a basic fact of life. Society depends on this.

You just don't want it to affect you and what you want. Be pissed at the two guys, not the coach exercising reasonable accountability.

Hopefully, if they get in the game, it fires them up and they play lights out. Maybe the starters will do so well they ride the pine the whole game.

Hopefully it was never stated clearly they would miss the first quarter and now only the first series....need to say what you mean n mean what you say imo

I saw Tweets earlier Thursday afternoon from Statesman writers that just said they wouldn't start. I don't know where the OP got 1 quarter from.

I think it'll be a good opportunity to see what these Freshmen can do. I think most of our opponents score on the first drive against us.

Y'all don't sweat it. We are going to kick some a** even if they score first.

Isn't it just the first series? I mean, we have a td scored against us in the first defensive series every game. What would be different?

The indefinite time span is odd. Make it a specific number of plays or series. Otherwise if we get scored on quick and they play the 2nd series it looks like he waited to cut the punishment short until seeing how we did.

maybe that's what they did internally. or they have a sense that 3-and-out either way doesn;t cut it, but a semi-long drive or score does cut it.

Whatevs...Boyd gets burnt to a crisp all over the field, and never looks for the ball in the air. I already wanted to give his backup a look.

Disagree.
This has definitely been true in the past and I have been as big a critic of Boyd as anyone. But he is having a really good year and made some huge plays in tight games for us this year.

Well, I guess I jinxed us, because Boyd reverted back to form.
When he came back into the game I thought we'd see an instant upgrade over Boyce or Cook who were playing extremely soft coverage. But Boyd was a total liability.
That and the twitter attack against Acho. Kid is a hot mess.

Not sure he deserves to start next weekend, but Cook and Boyce are not ready.
I hope Orlando can get the kid's stupidity in check and channel the emotions into football.

He had a decent end of last season after they said something to the effect of putting a camera on his helmet in practice to see what he was doing with his eyes that kept getting him beat. He seems to have went back to his old ways. He was beat constantly in that tcu game. If Robinson has a healthy arm and didn’t underthrow some of those that’s a different ball game. The pokes targeted Boyd all night and it paid off. I don’t remember a ball going in devante Davis direction at all maybe I missed it but it didn’t see him much. But like they say just win and it will silence the noise. He better be ready because David Sills is going to try his best to light it up on him.

Boyd’s vulgar public attack on Acho should be grounds for some kind of discipline, imo. Maybe that is being handled quietly by the coaches. You can’t let a scholarship athlete represent the University that way.

Agree - I have been out on Boyd since his halftime tweet 2 years ago (I think) against TCU. He's done nothing to win me back.

Seems like a win-win if Herman would simply kick Boyd off the team. Send a message, and improve the defense at the same time. Sick of seeing him get burned every week. Embarrassing.

I was just thinking that maybe he needs to go the way of his brother.

Saw Herman's presser, said Boyd was voicing in a bad way the "we only care what people in the locker room think"....so, looks like Herman isn't ready to discipline him too harshly....Herman may think he needs all hands on deck these last 4...although Boyd is sometimes toast, he's an upperclassman that brings experience.....

Sounded more like he was voicing in a very accurate way that he cares a lot what people outside the locker room think.

I guess I missed his comments about Acho. Can someone enlighten me?

During my HS football daze, if we had an infraction like: late for a team meeting, skipped class, missed practice, popping towels in the shower, etc., that was punishable by a virtually endless number of wind-sprints, bear crawls, wheelbarrows or bleacher steps (coaches choice) AFTER practice (including the normal wind sprints after practice).

Dont forget your salt pills on your way out of the field house. Damn, I miss running those bleachers.

I don't like this Acho vs. Boyd fracas... it could create an ongoing & un-needed distraction on social media and potentially the locker room.
