last minute aggy losses

I've been one to enjoy aggy's misery as much as your typical Horn fan, but for more than one reason, I don't enjoy seeing them lose Nelson to zero-u.

Prop, I wasn't surprised to see the change of heart...usually this late in the recruiting year, where there's smoke, there's fire, and okie is big up in the Metroplex.

Say what you will about Perri-loser, etc. but I remember what it felt like, as a UT fan, to see us lose top recruits at the last minute...it sux.

Nelson's probably gonna be just another pretty good blow-u linebacker, but from a UT perspective, I'd rather have seen him at agricultural, where there's less opportunity, at least for now, for him to hurt us. If the talk about him approaching us is true, and I have a hunch it is, he's gonna have a grudge against UT because, in essence, he was told he isn't good enough, or his timing is too lousy, for him to be a Horn.

This is once that I'm feeling aggy's pain, and I hope Nelson doesn't come back in the next few years to bite us in the butt either.
 
Looks like these loses have dropped a&m considerably (that and other teams getting more recruits)

As mentioned above, Rivals dropped them to #14, but ESPN dropped them to #16, and Scout to #26 (dont know where they were before).
 
I'd actually say there is more of an opportunity for him to hurt us at ATM. There's a higher % chance that he'll play for ATM. At OU, he might be riding the pine.

I'd say he would have helped ATM more overall, too. There's a much higher chance that he makes an impact on ATM's defense than OU's. I'd like to see the coaching carousel continue over in College Station.
 
I do enjoy aggy misery, but this business is sleezy, and it really reflects on the character of the recruits involved, and the coaches that stole them. So I sympathize in that regard. It really sucks.
UT probably could have gotten the committment of Nelson, from the rumors, had UT's coaches been willing to stoops to that level. I doubt aggy will even consider that fact in their continuing hatred of all things UT, but they should. And they should know why OU is to be hated without reservation. Trying to recruit against them over the years, with their tactics, has not been a pleasant experience.
 
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think aTm still has not hired a Linebacker coach. If I'm correct then I think that is a big part of why had a change of schools. Why go into a school who you do not know how you will fit into their program. At aTm he would probably start as a freshman, at OU he will probably redshirt due to depth. I think he waited until the last minute to change because he was waiting for Sherman to convince him why he should stay and it did not happen.
 
You're right GH...it's not that Nelson doesn't have the talent to play here, but by the time he allegedly checked out our interest in him, it was a question of his talent versus Hicks' talent. We were only gonna take one of them, and Hicks was Mack's choice. Mack doesn't deliberately poach players who are committed to somebody else.
