Lakers vs. Celtics

If Bynum can play a full game 7 and Perkins can't play at all, I think that does it. The Lakers could still win without much from Bynum (like they did tonight), but if they have that advantage at center, forget it.

I don't have a dog in this hunt and am just an interested observer, but I know I won't be laying any money down on game 7. I said all along this would go 7, but it has been a roller coaster ride.

26% from the field for LA, but they are obliterating Boston on the offensive glass and keeping it close.

Before this game I thought Kobe should be the Finals MVP no matter who wins the series, but I've changed my mind now that he's 3-14 from the field at halftime.

I'm pretty sure Mark Jackson just said that Kobe hit a bigtime jumper and the ***** enjoyed.

don't understand why folks keep talking about how much of a difference Perkins being out made?
Uh, Bynum has been out pretty much since game 3. Did that not make a difference?

It wasn't just the matchup between Perkins and Bynum. You might have noticed Wallace playing many more minutes in game 7 than he has been playing. And he was playing more inside.

I thought it was very interesting that Rivers didn't go to Robinson more. He played huge in Boston and he was a guy that always brought energy into the game. In this game energy was lacking at times.

It really came down to the 4th qtr. Boston generally hasn't been the best 4th qtr team. In this one they got outscored by 8 in the 4th and lost the game by 4.

Going into game 7 if you would have told me that LA would shoot 32.5% from the field, 20% from 3 (4-20), and 67.7% from the line I would not have thought they would win. Boston shot a decent 40% from the field but got off 12 fewer shots than LA due to getting out rebounded. LA snatched 13 more boards, including 15 more offensive rebounds than Boston did. Did Perkins factor into this? I think so.

LA deserved this title though. It was an ugly game 7 for sure.

The 3 by Fish was huge needless to say.

Artest had a career game and LA hit clutch FT's at the end.

Great defensive turn around by LA in the second half.

Man that crowd was intense.

I didn't watch the game because I have no interest in the NBA, but I just read that LA shot 37 free throws to Boston's 17.

How is that possible?

It's possible because the NBA is crooked. Boston clearly got the worse of the officiating in the 4th quarter. And that was the difference in the game. LA continually got bailed out by the refs down the stretch. It's just not even any fun to watch. What a pathetic league.

An ugly strange game. As in most NCAA Championship games, the finale was low scoring and poorly played for the most part, but it didn't seem to be from the pressure of a win it all, or go home empty handed scenario.

The Celtics just looked disinterested and flatfooted for much of the game. Perhaps it was the cumulative effect of fatigue, but then they have demonstrated that same up and down trait throughout the later rounds of these playoffs.

I tip my hat to the Lakers and it was a game 7 in the NBA finals and that is always a good thing, but when some in the media call this a "Classic", I have to laugh - out loud.

When both teams play great defense you are going to have an ugly game. Both teams played their hearts out. I did not think there was a great NBA team this year.

Talking about what I observed Aces. I agree with warrior about the defense, but offensively the Lakers played poorly, the Celtics played poorer. Flailing at rebounds and repeatedly getting out hustled to the ball. That is all.

37 to 17 and the NBA gets what it wants. I love basketball, but it's getting harder and harder for me to watch the NBA. The might as well call it professional entertainment like the WWE.

No great teams this year. Agree.

Lakes outhustled the Celts the whole game. Both of the last games in LA, really. They killed them on the boards for two consecutive games. That's just hustle. They also played lights-out, knock around down the stretch. More hustle.

The Celts shot poorly down the stretch and their D flagged. The latter turned the tide. They could not match the Lakers' once the the 4th quarter came and called for an elevated response. The Celts missed a couple of key shots and they could not move their feet quickly enough to avoid getting called for the fouls. Gasol was flopping, but the Celts were also being physical without being quick. Recipe for fouling. The Lakers did not flag at the end, so their D was more matchup sound and fewer fouls resulted. I thought the refereeing was pretty solid.

Good, tough series. Last night's game involved some of the most spirited D I have seen in a while, and the Lakers' bench showed, along with Artest.

Lakers Repeat: Haters Forced To Peel And Eat

What I saw was a bunch of flopping by Gasol late in the 4th quarter getting rewarded by the refs, and a phantom and one called against Big Baby guarding Gasol.

Foul disparity has been and always will be a horrible way to decide if a game was reffed poorly or not.

Game 7 was officiated evenly until the 4th quarter when the Lakers got much more of the benefit of the doubt. It was definitely an advantage, but it also wasn't the sort of blatant advantage like Lakers-Kings Game 6 that you can blame a loss on. Key play of all was Artest hitting the late 3 when Pierce backed too far off of him. If he misses that, then you have back-to-back Celtics 3s by Rasheed and Ray tying the game. But he makes it, and Boston has to foul and LA really doesn't have anyone out there who you think "Ooh, we really don't mind having to intentionally foul that guy"
