Lakers - Spurs

I suspect the Lakers-Spurs game next week to be a battle of the benches. PJ will probably rest some of his key players as well.

The question I have is Dallas going to slip to #4 seed. And who winds up in the #8 spot to face SA in round one. I think as a Spurs fan, I may prefer a David West-less Hornets team to Memphis. The Grizz have played the Spurs tough this year.

The Spurs would certainly prefer to play the West-less Hornets. The Grizz always beat 'em up and the others like Portland and OKC are young and very athletic. Bring on NOLA!

Spurs still haven't locked up home-court over Chicago if those 2 teams meet in the NBA Finals. Unless the Bulls lose their next game, the matchup with LA still potentially matters for San Antonio.

I hope its:

1) SA
2) OKC
3) LAL
4) Dal

OKC has given LAL fits this year- and frankly- all 3 of the above have at some point or another beaten SA. So, I'd rather see OKC and LAL beat each other up thoroughly in round 2 and left depleted for round 3. Frankly- while I feel SA is the best in the west- winning is a matter of staying healthy and regaining the vibe they had earlier in the season. One injury- and they are toast. And I do honestly fear Chicago and Boston from the East- this is one of the most leveled seasons in recent NBA history.

I would argue these are the real contenders for the title: Boston, MIA, Chicago, SAS, LAL and even Dallas.

Haha, it's somehow tied in the middle of the 2nd even though the Spurs are down to their C-team and aren't even playing most of the guys who started this game. Lakers have 0 offensive rebounds.

Oh so yeah, Pop pulled the starters and the headlines say "Lakers snap 5 game losing streak with win over Spurs"

I feel bad for Bynum- hope he is healthy. I'd love to beat them at full strength.

The Bulls are the overall # 1 seed. Spurs end the year losing their last 2 games and Manu is hurt. Memphis and the Spurs were 2 - 2 this year and the games the Spurs won were very close. I think Memphis wants to face the Spurs and I think they could give them a series? I like the Spurs but I think the Lakers and Thunder will do better in the playoffs? I hope i am wrong.

SA, LA, Portland, and OKC will make it out of the first round. I'm not a Dallas hater, but I feel like their rotation is so shoddy right now. After that, I have a feeling that it's up for grabs. I probably can't see Portland winning the conference, but out of the other three options any scenario is possible.

Yo-

Where did you get that vintage Dwayne Schintsus (sp?) photo on your sig? I was in a Spurs "camp" as a kid and got his autograph- I remember everyone being so excited about this draft pick- what a joke he was.

Also- agree with your analysis on the playoffs- Lakers got really lucky to slide into 2 and avoid OKC. Although- I do think the Spurs would win a series 4-2 against them. I'm more worried about OKC in second round. Sadly- I don't think I can see SA beating Chicago or Boston in finals- yes to Miami though.
And- I thought Manu's injury was not too bad- time for me to go over to mysa.com and see if they have updates..

Manu is listed as "doubtful" for Game 1. Not "out". Spurs often play coy with injuries. I'll bet he plays in Game 1. But even if he doesn't, the Spurs should get by Memphis. It may be a tough series, but the Spurs have played in many tough series. I like their experience. 2nd round is a whole other animal. OKC/Denver winner (I think OKC wins that series) will be a battle. Whoever comes out of the West will have earned it. Although, I think LA has the better route to the WCF. Go Spurs Go.

My nightmare is an LAL-MIA series with Marv Albert proclaiming "YES!" repeatedly for 7 games. Please god, prevent this from happening.

I would not be surprised if the Spurs lose to the Grizzlies. S.A. does not match up well with Memphis. I hope the Spurs win but this year in the playoffs nothing will surprise me. If Spurs get past Memphis then they get Okla. City. I can see a Okla. City L.A. Western final again.
