Lakers - Spurs

Talk about an *** kicking. Lakers 34 Spurs 13 after 1 quarter. Total domination by the Lakers big men.

Dallas matches up much better with Lakers than the Spurs do, Mavs have the big men. I like Okla. City too. I also like Boston and the Bulls.

That was a pretty ugly game for the Spurs. I am overseas and woke up at 4:30 to watch it, but went back to bed again long before it was over. However, the great or worse (depending on your viewpoint) thing about the NBA is that one game is pretty much meaningless. The Spurs won the first two meetings and Laker fans were saying they were coasting. Maybe the Spurs were coasting this time. If the seeds hold up, it should be a great WCF.

Spurs will still likely end up #1 in the West. They have a 5.5 game lead over Dallas and a 6.5 game lead over LA.

After the all-star break Kobe said the Lakers would start to play harder the remainder of the season and it seems he wasn't blowing smoke...7 wins in a row now.

Actually, I think the spurs and lakers played their 3rd game yesterday. Spurs own a 2-1 series lead now. I believe they still have 1 regular season game to play.

Lakes now 16-1 since all-star break. They seem to have another gear.

Should be an interesting playoffs. SA still #1 in the West but lost 5 in a row and are sliding. OKC looking really good since the Perkins trade and have won 5 in a row.

I can't remember the last highly regarded team experiencing a slump like the Spurs are going through now. Oh wait ...

It is as you a slump for the Spurs. Now 7 losses in a row. Lakes now 17-1 since all-star break and Kobe told the media that they would start turning it on. Lakes just 1.5 games back in the West now. They are also tied with Chicago with possible home court implicatoins on the line for the Finals.

Lakes and spurs each have control of their own destiny. If either team wins out, they'll get the 1 seed in the west.

Any chance the spurs continue to crumble and drop to the 3 seed?

Spurs ran out of gas. Their big 3 are getting up there in age and at the end of the year they get injured and slow down quite a bit. Spurs need to look at replacing their big 3 and soon. First time in 14 years since Duncan was drafted Spurs have lost 6 in a row. I love the Spurs and Duncan, Manu and Parker but their best years unfortunately are behind them

Spurs played well today against a so so Suns team but the Lakers lost, Spurs have 2 1/2 game lead with 5 to go. I am not counting out any team yet especially the Spurs. Looking forward to the playoffs though, it should be interesting and exciting.

I love the Spurs but they win by outscoring other teams because their defense is average or below average. This is not the same kind of team that won the championships, those were very good defensive teams, this team is about depth and their offense. I would not bet on the Spurs or bet against them.

time to rest now. Spurs clinch.

Didn't expect the Lakers to lose 3 straight to Denver, Utah and Golden St.

Knowing Coach Pop- he will sit or barely play Duncan, Ginobili and Parker for the last games. Whatever channel is televising the next Lakers-Spurs game next week will be pissed off at Pop for removing the stars- whatever- he does not care one iota. And, I have to say- I love his style of coaching.

Wadster, Warrior, any retractions yet for your above predictions??

I don't think the Spurs D is as bad as is being suggested, but the Spurs definitely still miss Bruce Bowen. Not that you have to have a Bowen / Battier / Artest type of player to win a title, but guys like that a very hard to replace, and it's a specific key element of 3 of their 4 Title-winning teams that they no longer have.
