KXAN may be leaving Time Warner on October 2nd

The broadcast networks have been losing viewership over the years to cable network and the internets. The broadcast networks and their affiliates are now trying to get paid like the cable networks by the TWs of the world to maintain their revenue stream. Obviously the cable companies are resisting.

We're switching over to Uverse this weekend. We'll see how it goes. We had planned on doing this for a while. Should save around $80 bucks a month. That's a lot of beer and sandwiches.

A lot of the savings is from cutting some services from our wireless package. We're going with the Elite speed internet hook up, which is one level below the top on Uverse. Not sure how this translates into what we had with TW (which we may have had the fastest they offer.) Plus we're getting a total of 5 DVRs for each of our TVs, which is nice. We won't be under contract, so if TW drops their pants for us, we can still move back (after making them sweat a while).

I get virtually the bare minimum of stuff and I save about $30 over TWC a month.

Phone, Cable, Internet bundled from TWC - $97.90/month

Phone - $13/month
Satellite w/everything - $37/month
Internet (Max 3Mbps) - $20/month

Granted I had to bargain with the DishNetwork sales associate in order to get HBO, Cinemax and Showtime thrown in with the locals, but I don't think I would ever consider switching TV providers ever again.

Anastasis, close.

Briefer checklist:

Did not show on first two appointments to install, took time off work.

Billed me for wall drops yet installed through floor.

Wanted to make me take more time off work to come look to see if it was floor or wall. Kept billing me.

Billed me for all movie channels, only had HBO.

To try to buy me out they said they would send 3 ppv movie vouchers. got envelope with nothing in it but a (3) on back flap of envelope.

Continued to bill me for wall drops which would have been free anyways as part of install for first time customer.

I wasted a few hours of my life haggling over the bill with them and getting my services straight. Told them to come get their box and they suggested a window of 8-12 or 1-5 to pick it up. Informed them it would be on the curb at noon, go ahead and charge me for that too, they won't ever see a penny from me. They have not since.

it is a goal of mine to cost them as much money as i can and i have been successful

two apartment complexes and several friends have dumped them

multiply that times five or so years and it adds up to a big f you time warner

cable is so 80s.

I don't get the complaints. I have DISH and I don't get KXAN from DISH. I have them getting me the San Antonio locals.

I pick up the Austin locals OTA with an antenna. I will say one cool thing about DISH though is that my cable box has 2 inputs -- one for cable and one for antenna. And since I pay DISH for locals (albeit SA locals), the guide shows all the Austin locals OTA that I pick up.

Hell, I watch NBC OTA because DISH doesn't have a deal with SA's local NBC affiliate for HD on DISH (just SD).

Why can't TWC customers get an antenna (mine cost $30 at Home Depot) and just use that for KXAN? Hell you can even get it in HD.
