KXAN may be leaving Time Warner on October 2nd

Because Time Warner doesn't want KXAN to charge you for something that is free, and has apparently made a deal with DISH Network to encourage people to switch. I sent them this email:

I saw something about TWC and KXAN but did not realize it was the local channel being greedy. This will backfire on KXAN. I commend them for trying to be gigantic douchebags on the level of Time Warner but they cannot pull this off. Nobody is as douchey as TWC. They are out of their element.

The asshats who own KXAN also had a long dispute with Directv. They wanted Directv to pay them extra to air their HD feed. It was pretty much unbearable to watch a football game in standard def, so I quit watching KXAN because of it. I noticed the other day that we finally have the HD feed, though.

I think TW is also being a little ***** about this situation with several channels. Look at this link about the channels that you may lose with with TW. KXAN may be getting greedy but TW is not innocent in this situation either.

Turner controls TBS and TCM, TW isn't going to lose either one of those, even if the agreement is near expiring. Channels like Starz and TCM are ones that TW pays rights fees for. This fight is about the channels broadcast over the open air for free. Whether TW should pay for those. TW is required by law to allow those on their cable for free.

I have nothing but terrible things to say about Time Warner Cable and the way they mistreat their customers and squeeze out the competition. I have no problem that some company other than TWC is allowed any edge at all in that competition. I love satellite.

Now Time Warner is running ads attacking KXAN, calling them liars and the best part is they conclude by saying something to the effect: "even though NBC may not be on the air, you can still watch your favorite shows on nbc.com!!!!!!!"

That's great. Let's fire up the Internet to watch Sunday Night Football.

The burden of guilt or blame may or may not rest on Time Warner but it is telling that their name comes up in just about every single pissing match. Be it this or the NFL Network issue, they are in the mix. It is surely not because they are doing jack **** to protect their customers or their customers rights/services. That is something I am sure of.

I won't ever have their services in my lifetime so I don't have a dog in this fight. I am looking at possibly getting Direct TV for their HD packages soon. Gonna see what Grande can come up with for me in price and number of channels.

Grande has been great but if they cannot match HD for HD and price point, I will have to say adios and just get the internet and phone package.

TW must have ****** loops girlfriend. Every single thread involving TW and loop is there to tell how much they suck at everything. TW is not the problem here, KXAN is. They are the common thread when it comes to having free OTA local channels threatened to be pulled from Central Texas consumers.

I'm taking Time Warner's side on this issue. I could care less if NBC is on my TV. I wish they would take MSNBC with them as well. There are plenty of other stations to choose from.

I am glad Time Warner stood up to the NFL Network and Jerry Jones, too. There are enough NFL games to watch for my taste. If I miss a few I could have watched, big deal.
