Kris Boyd, Where's Our Christmas Present?

One thing I'm trying to hang my hat on recently....

The recruiting go-rounds of late have shown how to handle commiting or de-commiting, how to act with regard to the whole recruiting society when smack in the middle of it. Social media of the kind we have today was not around even a few years ago.

I think the recruiting process next year will be much different. If all goes as I think it will go, the recruits looking at Texas late fall next year, and being looked at, will judge this program and relate to it in a newer much different way.
 
Kris Boyd was considering a midweek trip to Baylor, but apparently Baylor wasn't interested, probably because they know that it is a waste of time? So he dropped Baylor again.

Anyway, he tweeted today "A&M, Alabama, Texas". His brother Demarco tweeted back at kris for that with a "Gigem" which people are taking to be a troll job. Demarco is supposed to be a big longhorn, but who knows what these kids mean? Down to Texas and A&M. We lead, they all say...
 
After all the talk of cutting the list from 5 to1 and expanding back up to 5, then changing to a different 5, then to 4 and all that, and then talk of a mid-week visit to Baylor which BU wasn't going for, finally it seems Boyd and Hill are set for their final 2 visits and have converged on Texas, aggy and bama as the final 3.

Both will be in farmerville this weekend and redneckville the week after. I suspect Bama has no spots for either of them, so who knows if they are even going. I think the main visits are what happened last weekend to Austin and then this weekend to A&M. I think both are down to their final 2 which are Texas and aggy.

My confidence (with no direct source to back it up) on Boyd has gone down from 80% to 60% over the last couple of weeks, despite a terrific visit he had to us last weekend. Hill remains at 75% level.

But never underestimate aggy on an OV. They can dazzle teenagers. If these two don't get all caught up in the party that is an aggy visit, including seeing the shiny athletic center barber shop (that I am told can tug at kids' heartstrings) and they come out intact without committing to them immediately, we should have good chance on both.

Demarco says he is not going to College Station this weekend. I was beginning to worry if we were losing our #1 recruiter of Kris Boyd, which is his younger brother, and if Demarco was getting excited about aggy. There was some smoke that aggy were hosting him this weekend and would make an offer to him also, to close the deal on Kris Boyd. Seems like at least that is off the table (though they could still offer Demarco, it is different when he himself is visiting).
 
By the way Demarco did make it to A&M this weekend, and I think aggies have been using their ace really well. Kris seems to have been partying with Josh Walker since Thursday. I assume aggies must have made an offer to Demarco too, though I see no confirmation of that..

The recruiting gurus are still not saying that Kris is moving to aggy, and Kris has been playing around a lot on his twitter all this while to believe anything he tweets, but I am reluctant to buy it that he is just trolling his friend Josh Walker in all these pro-aggy tweets he has been making this whole week with Josh (and even Demarco, who joins once in a while too).

And these are kids on whom we have no parent card to pull out. I believe their dad passed away long back and they don't even live with their mom. That means we immediately lose the automatic advocate to UT that we have in most cases. Working on parents is a big part of Charlie's recruiting style.

The kids may just fall for the aggyland jazz. Hope not, but let us see. Like I said, if they get out of there without committing, we may be at least in even shape. Need that guy to go far away from Josh Walker

Reportedly, aggy didn't make an offer to Demarco Boyd when he was there today in aggyland (ags had their junior day, which fizzled out a bit, as the top three 5-star guys were no-shows). I am surprised that they didn't make that move to put some more pressure on Kris Boyd. I guess that was not bad news for us.

The two brothers have left all the twitter followers from both the aggy and Texas sides all confused about what the heck they are trying, saying, or thinking.

No real idea where Kris Boyd is going. May be leaning a bit in the a&m direction, but once he gets proper wind of what is happening in Austin, and thinks through things, may be he will get back to being a lean our way. We;ll see.

It seems Boyd's close buddy 4-star DB Holton Hill liked his OV to a&m, but there's no clear indication that our heavy lead has dwindled a whole lot. That appear to be what the recruiting gurus say.
 
So he is telling us today that tomorrow he will tell us the day he will commit?

Guess that would not be closing it down. More like jerking around.
 
I read it the other way. I read it as he is setting his day up as tomorrow. He may have made his choice but not have everybody in line that he wants there and is setting that up, or just did. I could be wrong, that is often the case.
 
Guess we will find out tomorrow. I can see how it can be understood to be eitherr way.
I am getting so fed up with the whole thing. Cryptic tweets and all. Boys Just wanna have fun but I for one do not think it is funny. Most of us want so much to see that 1 on the tower again. The possibility of having a class that might be able to pull it off is exciting. The emotion of having delayed announcements and de commitments and all of this nonsense is just getting to me.

I have not been drunk in 50 years but will give it strong consideration on NSD.
 
I don't even know what to think of aggy reporters anymore. They have been spectacularly wrong in everything (I mean *every* damn thing) in the last 5-6 weeks when it comes to the recruits that both Texas and aggy are after, like Malik, McNeal, Murray, Mack, Lodge, and Soso. Their sources have been completely misled in everything that happened. Guys like Jason Higdon, Geoff Ketchum, Justin Wells, Jason Suchomel, Chip Brown, Jeff Howe and Bob Burton on the Texas side have called it all correctly, starting from Malik and McNeal (if some of our guys like Burton didn't call it, it is because they couldn't believe what they were hearing about what is happening, or couldn't believe that their aggy-side friends could be so wrong with their sources).

Basically, a whole host of recruits must have simply stopped letting the aggy players and aggyland people know about anything, because they didn't want to hear the mocking reactions. Probably not talking to them much. So, none of the aggy reporters' sources have known much. And even if they heard anything, their arrogant overconfidence wouldn't let them believe it to tell the aggy reporters either. No way anybody is going to 3-star Chollie who has nothing to sell, and was getting killed by Sumlin in recruiting, to play in a program in shambles in a crappy non-SEC conference, right?

I think many Texas recruits stopped talking to those aggy sources because they got fed up with the badmouthing of Texas and the SEC groupie attitude. I just saw today the story that one aggy reporter had access to the Jeffersons and was even told of Malik's decision the day before, and he tried to tell Malik, "you know you are making a mistake, right?" Can you believe that?

These aggy sources were so delusional and might even have been condescending in their attitude towards many of these recruits even considering Charlie and Texas, that it rubbed the recruits the wrong way (just my guess).

So, I don't know if we should believe the aggy sources on Boyd/Hill either.

Having said that, I personally get the feeling that Boyd may not be trolling aggy, when he was so pro-aggy this week on his twitter. The main reason why I think Boyd could end up in A&M is his close buddy Josh Walker who plays for aggy. I just cannot believe he would troll that guy, and some of Boyd's tweets have directly included Josh Walker.

But then again, for some unfathomable reason, Sumlin still has not offered Demarco Boyd, even this weekend when DBoyd was there. May be he didn't want to look bad or desperate? His D coaches did not think Demarco was good, but Charlie did. Way early, as we gave D.Boyd's first offer. Seeing how D.Boyd ended his junior season ended as the MVP of the state championship game, Charlie was spot on and Sumlin already lost out. May be he thinks it is too late to recover and decided not to look desperate? Anyway, I think that makes things tough for K.Boyd to consider aggy, because the brothers have been pretty strident about playing together.

Some of the good prognosticators on the Texas side are continuing to say that Kris Boyd is still a near-lock or heavy-lean to us, along with his friend Holton Hill. And the "momentum-bunch" (guys like Malik, Charles, Lampkin, Elliott etc) are just not backing down in their enthusiasm about everybody being all wrapped up. None of them appear bothered about Boyd at all. So may be Boyd is also with them.

By the way, one of the first tweets from Malik, to Mack, right after he committed on Dec 19th said this - "You know I've already got Boyd". I don't think Malik has said a word about Boyd since then!

So, whom to believe? I have no idea. I wouldn't believe the aggy reporters on this. But I find it hard to believe that K.Boyd would do this much of trolling on aggy. Let us just say that he is 55-45 in favor of Texas, on a hunch.
 
Wow, that's a lot of history. I sure hope he comes a board. Not only because he'd fit right in and help, but I'd like to see the rug pulled out from underneath the aggies feet.
 
I think we just lost Boyd. His little brother tweeted this

Haha, I knew our Vodka-man would come through. Sumlin just offerred demarco Boyd, during the in-home with Kris Boyd. This was well-speculated by everybody and his uncle. The idea being to create such an emotional high that everybody would melt and he would commit on the spot. I doubt it means a thing anymore, even for Kris, I am sure!

Kris immediately tweeted out "Lil bro got the a&m offer, gigem"" and all that. And pathetic replies come from his a&m buddy Josh Walker saying "man oh man", trying to create excitement that doesn't exist (like, wow, I never thought such a great honor would go to your brother, kris! ... Yeah sure).

UT guys started tweeting "should have done this months back, this is disrespecting him to get his brother's commitment" etc, and Demarco promptly keeps retweeting those tweets. Hilarious stuff going on right now.

I have no idea about Kris Boyd though. He may actually be going to aggy, and may have decided that he will leave his brother to do what he wants. There is just no question that Demarco knows that aggy did not take his talents seriously to offer him early enough. He will come to us next year. Kris Boyd may be gone, who knows.

But Charlie is set to see him tomorrow. Charlie gets to make the final pitch.

There are enough recruiting guys from the Texas side who are still swearing that Kris Boyd is coming to us. I have no clue.
 
It's funny to see the aggy forums. About an hour ago, they were celebrating, saying "Sumlin the closer" and all that. A little later people started posting what demarco has been retweeting about the disrespect to him, and aggy suddenly start seeing some sense and they go, "huh? what? an offer from the great Texas a&m doesn't excite him?" ... Aggy lives in a curious world of alternate reality.

But the other thing that I just found is that Looch of texags had pretty much said that Boyd might be coming to Texas, before this in-home visit! Those guys usually don't say that unless they are quite sure. That surprises me. But the next thing is that this offer to Demarco may have been AFTER the in-home visit (not sure). If so, it is even worse. Like a totally desperate move. We will see.

Here is my bold prediction (with nothing to back it up). Charlie will go there tomorrow for Kris Boyd's in-home and come out with a 2016 commit from Demarco, as our first defensive commit for 2016 and the early recruiting leader! Just watch it. That will be just fantastic, won't it?
 
IMO way too much game playing by Kris Boyd. Not that it matters, but I've cooled on him considerably. I prefer to support kids that clearly want to be Longhorns. Seems like his actions and character fit better with aggy.
 
His character will be just fine if he comes to Texas, and lives in Pat Moorer's world. I said above, that both the kids are known to be not problem caes (of the "trouble" variety). It seems their father passed away some few years ago, and if I am not mistaken they are not living with their mom, probably for school reason or something (not sure). That may explaini why Kris Boyd is a fun-loving free spirit. Kris is a bit more of a cocky kind on the field too, unlike Demarco. That's about all, from what I understand (this is based on accounts posted elsewhere by those in Gilmer HS). Charlie can handle them, or he won't go for them, I would assume.
 
Gigem247 just said posted that Boyd is pretty much coming to Texas. They say they have info that he had told Texas coaches after the visit to us that he was coming, and apparently that he was apologetic about it to their source that he already had done that, when he visited a&m this past weekend (and everybody assumes the source is none other than Josh Walker). He may have acted like he was still high on a&m, but used the "I happened to commit and now I don;t know what to do" line on Josh Walker. Just my guess. Sumlin had a good visit and he seemed waffling but after that he has gone back to Texas again.... That sounds to me like he was again being nice to his friends at aggyland. Just my read of it. Anyway, but for Josh Walker, I never felt he was going to aggy, so if he has handled Josh in a nice way, I assume he is ours

And, currently Charlie is on a nice in-home with Boyds at their school and happy pictures are hitting twitter with both boys doing hookems. May not mean anything, but this could be going our way...

Cross you fingers and wait for tomorrow, to know what Boyd does.
 
^^ I don't think Boyd or Hill has set a time. Maybe there's no school ceremony and cap shuffling business? That would be odd for the flashy guy Boyd, though probably fits the quieter one Hill.
