Yes he tweeted earlier that he is going to wait till late January. His final official visit is still set for us on Jan 23rd. My guess is that, as it got close, he started getting some pressure from friends at A&M and Baylor and he decided to wait. had he done it today, it would certainly have been us, but now we will have to continue to stay on him and close on him.
He is friends with those like current a&m player Josh walker, and aggy commit Trevor Elbert. He is also friends and team-mates with Blake Lynch the Baylor commit. We have his younger brother Demarco who is a big Longhorn fan on our side, and Malik Jefferson is also after him. Hope we win out.

He was supposed to be ready to commit last week. Not sure who got in his ear to get him to postpone it. No indication at all still, that he has any issues with Texas at all. Anyway, he just released a top five

This is like time going backwards. Maybe he will release a top-10 in a week and ask everybody when the camps are for everyone to evaluate him? Just kidding.... Just listen to your younger brother and your friend Malik, dude!
One other interesting thing is that national top-100 Kris Boyd and top-125 CB Holton Hill (Lamar HS), both rated at just round top-10 in Texas, have said in the past that they would like to play together if possible, though they were not expected to necessarily stick to it. We are after both. Hill gave a top-3 yesterday. Texas, Alabama and LSU, So the only team in both guys' lists is Texas. That item has been making twitter rounds today, though it may not mean a hill of beans. I had a suspicion that Baylor may still be there in Hill's list though he didn't say it but Baylor's 550 yard defensive "performance" today couldn't have helped their cause, I suspect.

Jay, you notice that he announced this before Baylor and FSU played today. I read an article today that said the 4 teams on that list is not new, but his new team added is TCU. His new announcement came after TCU played a very impressive game. To me this is another example of these kids seeing what teams are doing now and tend to get negative thoughts in their head when they see a team under-perform like we did against Arky. He's just not sold that we're going the right direction. I think with the talent were getting with this recruiting class and the JUCO players that are transferring that we will have recruits look at us different this time next year. So if Boyd chooses to go elsewhere then he might be missing out in three or 4 years from now. Texas could be a serious threat and could be looking at a whole new landscape of how the Big 12 ranks. That goes for other teams in the conference landscaping also.

Agree. We didn't help ourselves with the loss in preventing wavering from him, which started a week ago because (if I am to believe the rumors) Sumlin pretty much begged him to delay committing to us saying or hinting some more definite stuff about the Chavis hire and how Daylon Mack might still go back to a&m. Then we made it worse with our loss. But then again, I am sure he is hearing from Malik and others that the bowl game is nothing to worry about, because it was an O issue and our D didn't look that terrible or anything anyway.
We just made it tougher on ourselves with Boyd, but in the end, once this all plays out, I am pretty sure he will come to us, with Demarco Boyd in his ear all the time. That is unless Sumlin bites his pride and goes after Kris' brother with an offer this late (which would look quite bad and desperate) - but Demarco may still laugh at it, as he has Texas and FSU offers with him. If TCU somehow manages to beat out both a&m and Texas on Mack, maybe they now have a shot at Kris too, but I seriously doubt it.
There are other things like whether Sheffield goes to A&M and FSU comes after Boyd hard because they have a spot to use, or Sheffield goes to Bama and A&M comes even harder after Boyd, etc. One never knows. We will wait and see. But Texas still has many more cards in this game than everybody else, on Boyd.

Using the girlfriend analogy we use sometimes in such situations, I can understand a guy having a bloodlust crush on a gal who makes him light in his knees whenever he gets near her, and a different interest in another gal who is otherwise attractive, smart, makes him feel comfortable to be with just being there.

^^ But the sexy girl was getting drunk and screwed around by any and all "offensive" guys, and on top of that started acting hard-to-get to him for a while. But there was this pretty damn great looking girl with a nice family history that he had always looked up to, growing up. One that his mom, brother, and his "good" friends said will develop him into a man. He started thinking with his head rather than that something else, and decided to give the well-behaved girl an engagement ring for a Christmas present, as he knew she always liked him. The first one who still makes him weak-kneed started crying, bitching and moaning. To stop her from crying and make her think that it is not like he picked her over the girl he is going to marry, he comes back and says "look, it's not just you; these 4 other girls are after me and I want to ease them out; you know I want you". In the end the nice guy will marry the one he knows he is supposed to marry, because it's his life, and he wants to make babies (NCs) with her!

Jay, I think we got the wind to our sails again bud. Wheeler today and you had mentioned Irvin maybe tomorrow. I think recruiting is just like the actual game. You get momentum and it just keeps coming. I think our loss to Arky slowed or paused the wind but it blowing our direction again and I'm hoping this will help Boyd see clearly again. And it can't hurt on the few others that are considering us seriously like Daylon Mack.

There was another very interesting story today, which was that national top-75 4-star DB Mark Fields (William Amos Hough, Cornelius, NC) who had just said yesterday that he won't be able to visit Texas though he was constantly talking to Charlie, suddenly turned around and said today that his top-3 are Clemson, LSU and Texas, and that he's visiting us on Jan 30th. I went HUH??? What?
Then it all started making sense... Top-75 DB Sheffield committed to Bama today, and so A&M is expected to go all in on Kris Boyd. Not sure if that would work, but who knows. I am sure Charlie went after Mark Fields because we may have a spot and want to go hard after him. Maybe it would make Kris pause, with a hint that he should not wait for the nice girl to be there for ever, if he continues to goof around with the *****, because the nice girl may start being nice to bigger suitors

The kind of thing we never saw in Mack Brown who would rack up a top-3 class by Junior day and then will go on to other things and not pursue too many kids to the end.

Everybody takes it as a straight in-your-face at aggy which always acted like they had Sheffield in the bag, and talked about Boyd being a problem case or something. They were even trying to make it into a talking point that Boyd may not be taken because of some "issues" to make it look like Sumlin was turning all strict now... The word undoubtedly was getting to Boyd, I am sure, though I wasn't convinced if he took it as from aggy staff or from the fans and the aggy recruit reporter gang who are actually recruiters more than reporters. This tweet seems like Boyd is well aware of it. Aggy must have tried a full-court press on him today after losing Sheffield for him to react like that (or somebody straight-up screwed up on the aggy side)

No. He is a flashy guy, who apparently taunts players, picks up personal fouls and stuff like that which gets his HS coach Jeff Traylor at Gilmer mad. He would get sent out to do extra laps, and he would gladly do it. That is about it, from an account on it that I read from a guy from Gilmer. His younger brother Demarco Boyd is a very well-behaved dude and never gets in his coach's doghouse for such things. He actually keeps his older brother in check. No, Kris Boyd is not a druggy or petty thief or street-fighter or anything. Just the kind of guy that Charlie knows how to keep on track easily.

I'm not sure how I feel about a kid that would make a tweet like that. I smell problems with him. I have so much confidence in Charlie that he could make a kid not ranked as high a better DB than Boyd if he chooses a program like Aggy. Because of Charlie, I think Texas is a place now that can give the def players the skills they need to be successful at the next level that normally wouldn't. Other higher ranked DBs may arrive on their campus better, but Charlie will have his DBs leaving our campus better. .

^^^ Oh, Kris Boyd has done that with us too. He's that type. A few months back, when Charlie was getting ready to make the very first offer for his brother Demarco (2016), the news somehow leaked to a recruiting reporter. He called and told Demarco that he had the offer, and Demarco thought it was somebody from the Texas staff. He told some guys at Gilmer the he had the offer, and the whole thing quickly hit the news. The problem was that his HS coach hadn't heard and he immediately said that there was no Texas offer as far as he knew. He was also not sure who had called Demarco. Anyway, then Demarco had to backtrack and say he hadn't got the offer. Charlie was going to call that evening or something, and got around to it only a few hours later or early next morning. But it all looked bad thanks to the silly recruiting reporter. By then the aggy recruiting lowlifes were on the job, spreading a word about Texas messing around with Demarco.
So Kris Boyd got all hot under his collar and tweets "They need to stop messing with my brother on the offer" straight at UT. Then somebody had to first call Kris and calm him down, and then Charlie did the official stuff soon after. That's how Kris Boyd is, I guess. He seems to be a guy who is ultra-cocky about himself and would just say what he feels. Surely the kind that Charlie will send to Pat Moorer's infamous pit a few times, if he comes to UT, but there are people who swear that he is no problem case. You know, I like having some guys who have that kind of edge, as long as the HC has the right system to manage them. CS actually prefers such guys, and he knows how to channel their cockiness. We have recruited quite a few such types this year.

Good news today, as Kris Boyd tweeted he is doing an OV to us this weekend (16-17th). What's more, his friend, 4-star Holton Hill also is also visiting this weekend with him, as he tweeted too. That is terrific to have them come in together. Let's hope that the duo will just decide to commit this weekend to us.

There is still no clear read on what this guy Boyd is going to do. Most recruiting gurus seem to still think that he is coming to UT, and he apparently had a terrific visit to UT last weekend as well. But he is again back to all his tweets to A&M friends and all that stuff. On their part A&M is again doing recruiting with their players, as current A&M player Josh Walker and current commit James Lockhart are all over Kris Boyd. Planning a big party up in Colleyville this weekend when he visits or something. Even brother Demarco is talking of going along for the party. If aggy offers Demarco Boyd and the guys get caught up in all the excitement, crap can happen. I didn't ever think that he was really trolling his friends, and I think he still get weak-knees at the "sexy *****" school. as we called it above.
Wish Malik would come out of his self-imposed silence and do some recruiting. He had said that he doesn't like pushing his friends, and that isn't helping.... But he is doing the right thing, so we can't complain.
We need this guy Kris Boyd, badly. Hope he comes back from the A&M visit all in one piece and not all drunk in snake oil.
