"A reliable source has told KTBB Sports and Smoaky.com that redshirt freshman quarterback G.J. Kinne, a former star at both Canton and Gilmer High School, will officially announce his transfer from the University of Texas on Friday afternoon."
When #3 in passing in the history of Texas high school history realizes he'll never sniff the field, that is a good problem to have. Best of luck Kinne.
I too thought this would happen pretty soon. Good luck to him wherever he decides to go. No playing time here and he might get that somewhere else. He could still go to BU but i doubt if since they let his dad go. SMU, like some suggested, might also be a good option. Same with TCU, UH, Rice.
He redshirted last year, will sit out next year, and then have 3 years of eligibility left.
You can forget any thought of him going to Baylor. He burnt some serious bridges with those folks, all you have do is see how they still call him horrible names on their boards. The word is La. Tech since some of his best friends are there. I really just thought all along that when Sherrod got fully healthy and showed what he could do, there was no way Gary Joe was going to play anything but mop up duty, or another position. Best of luck to the kid and I thank him for his days as a Longhorn, it is a dream of many and he lived it as long as he could.
So if he had come in when Colt did and vice versa, would we be talking about Kinne as a 4-year starter and Colt transferring to some small Div. I school? So much of it depends on timing...
