Ketchup or Catsup

it takes away from the natural flavor of the foods... so i do not like it.. only time i honestly use it is for making the sauce in my MawMaw's BBQ crabs...

I don't like catsup.

I don't put it on fries, onion rings or anything else. If the fries are good they don't need catsup. Only fries that suck need catsup and I don't eat fries that suck.

And if you put catsup on a burger, you are a ratshit yankee.

I put Ketchup on fries, onion rings, burgers, hot dogs, corny dogs, scrambled eggs, chicken sandwiches, etc.

In Indonesia, we often used a product spelled kecap, pronounced "kay-chop". It is essentially thickenend and sweetened soy. So it did appear this was a likely etymological source of the word, perhaps a basic sweet sauce. A tomato based sweet sauce is probably a more recent invention.

Only use ketchup for fries. Mustard for burgers and dogs. I do use ketchup in some BBQ sauce receipes, but not all.
