Kerrville QB commits to aggy

apparently one of the recruitment strategies sherman used was to talk up the position that tannehill is in right now...playing WR at times and learning the offense before taking the reigns as starting qb.

good pick up. glad we could land him.

I had always grown up a die-hard Longhorns fan,” Manziel said.

He'll get to see his favorite team play once a year. Often while laying on his back.

Still, Congrats to him. I'm glad to see him stay in the state.

The aggy delusionists are already penciling in Aaron Green at RB because this kid is such good friends with him, & Green "started reaching out to the aggy coaching staff a couple of weeks ago, about the same time as H Sims".

You just can't make this stuff up - it's that unbelievable.

Kinda makes me teary eyed. That's what I admire about Texas A&M. Along with the pushovers like Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State in their non-conference schedule they'll play teams like FIU and Arkansas State that can really give them a challenge.

Congrats on the pickup Prop.
If you guys can upset a team or two during conference play,
you’ll definitely have a good chance at Green - in my worthless opinion.

Sounds like a great kid and is a solid pickup. Glad to see a kid like this stay in state. And yes, he sure does know how to make instant fans of his by the Ag's. Instant favorite I would think. If he were to do the Horns down he would achieve legendary status.

We need aggie to re-surge. They are going to play us tough as nails regardless so we might as well get some strength-of-schedule credit for it. Even when they were crap they cost Vince the Heismann in 05 and wrecked our 06 and 07 seasons. We sure could have used a little S-O-S out of them in 2008, though I guess they don't necessarily help against OU since they have to play them too.

Good pick up for aggy. Hopefully this will help the misery brew get back on track.

This kid is a baller (Stephen McGee kind) but at 5'10" it's kinda a wash if he plays in the Mike Sherman offense. This isn't the type of QB that is ideal for Shermy's offense and my aggy contacts are doubtful he'll ever see much serious time at QB unless he shows the coaches his ability to overcome his lack of ideal height.

According to a close ag, the FIU players started taunting the aggy faithful during the game when aggy was on the ropes. He said (yes, he was at the game) the crowd responded by becoming so loud that the 4th qtr was deafening for the FIU offense. According to my buddy, this is what Manziel was most impressed by. The crowd definitely affected FIU's ability to get a play of in time & with their timing.

At least aggy has that going for them. Of course, then I have to wonder if Manziel ever made it to the men's room to view the palatial amenities that are Pyle Field.

Local paper & Rivals list him at 6'1". regardless of his height, the kid is a baller. i'm sure the Dux are not happy to lose him.

Grats to PropJoe and other Ags--Manziel is a winner.

Living in Idaho, I haven't been able to see him play, but from the news reports I've read, this kid sounds like a one-man football army.

My favorite Texags reaction is that this kid is obviously better than Malcolm Brown because Manziel scored 8 TDs against Cibolo Steele.

Never mind that Brown doesn't play defense and, not for nothing, ran for 350 yards and five TDs in that game.

"But, aggy is going to the SEC by the time this kid is a sophomore." Let'm go. Jerry is already scheduling LSU, bama and arky games in Arlington. I'm sure there is more to come. I heard a while back that LSU has been talking to Jerry about an annual game. We can't stop that. Let's move our circus friends to the Pac16 and let aggie die on the vine in the sec. As long as aggie continues to suck, recruits will not follow them. Certain Texas players wanted to go to ou in order to play Texas. If Texas was irrelevant, why would they care. Same with aggie. They will remain irrelevant unless the sec gives them a steady diet of MissSt, OleMiss, Vany and Kent.

4 years from now he will be on the receiving end of the aggy game called "throw the senior quarterback under the bus." i was really sad for reggie mcneal when that happened to him - i really liked him....

I've seen the kid in person twice against SA Madison and out at Lake Travis. He is all that and a Venti Bold at Starbucks. He may be a bit smallish for a pro-style QB, but he looks to be a legit 6' tall to me. He's got fantastic speed, elusiveness and accuracy down the field. He's also got that uncanny ability to keep his eyes down field and just plain sense the pressure in the pocket - I guess that's a peripheral vision thing. The kid can absolutely play.

He can be even better in college when they get some fundamental things worked out. One example is he has a tendency to throw off his back foot when he doesn't have to. He's just so used to creating with his feet that almost every play takes on that dynamic, even when the rush is not there and he should plant and step into his throws. I think all of that is correctable with rudimentary coaching.

He strikes me as very similar to Colt McCoy, but with a bit more speed and wiggle. Now whether or not he will have the same "it" at the college level that he does in high school is the open question. I am looking forward to seeing him answer said question and the kid does concern me a bit as a Longhorn fan.

Even if he doesn't end up at QB at the college level, which I definitely think he will FWIW, the kid would make a fantastic WR because he runs like a jack rabbit. He is a straight up baller and aggy has every right to revel in his commitment.

I am also very pleased to see him stay in state. I hope I don't end up regretting it.
