Keaontay Ingram over and out

This is a strange one. I'm disappointed if it is true. Always ran hard and it is easy to see him being pretty darn good in his senior year. He has put on needed weight. Bummer.

Loved the kid. But vs. TCU - situational awareness. Ball protection. It was not the last play of game. No need to stretch and risk a fumble to get the TD.
 
KI26 doesn't like the media and fan portrayal of his decision. I personally don't blame him for feeling that way and think some of the reactions here and elsewhere are ridiculous....one reason the word cesspool floats around here.

Read between the lines I think he just wants to not be lumped in with all the craziness surrounding the program...and vilified by a now rabid media and fan base. Its pretty simple...he knows he's fallen on the depth chart, believes his injuries have contributed, and wants a fresh start..

He is a good kid and I wish that East Texas boy (who absolutely destroyed it in HS) all the best

(For the record...He is an elite pass catcher coming out of the backfield for a back and was sorely underutilized by TH in that role)

Hurrying-up was dumb since we needed to score with as little time as possible, but I can't blame Ingram's lack of ball protection on the time span between the previous play and the snap count.
 
Young people make rash decisions and some of them are fumbles of one sort or the other. You have to make some mistakes in order to learn from them.

I always liked his effort and his attitude.

Recall one Thursday night game between whoever and thoseotherguys and the play by play guy got exasperated over a kid blocking from behind on a kickoff return and negating a really good runback. Why would he do such a dumb thing, he asked. The color guy was Bill Curry, who responded that he was a young man and he was excited.

I am in my 70s and I still fumble. Including some of my posts. I forgive myself and Mr. Ingram and wish him the best.

His tweet, to me, appears to be total BS. Opting out due to injury? Since he's injured, he won't be playing anyway, so what does opting out accomplish?

Loved Yurich's PC yesterday when someone asked about Cosmi - basically said he only wants to discuss players on the team. So much better than Herman giving him a jerk on Monday....

and turned it into a stinking chunk of charcoal?

Just channel your inner Brady there. And if you're going out of the shotgun put Roy Miller type in there to block. And every once in awhile run a jump pass to the TE to keep the D honest. Even Nolan Ryan couldn't throw heat on every pitch. Herman's stubbornness has been his undoing.
 
I will always wonder what happened to the jump pass. As I recall the one, maybe two times we have run it in Sams 4 years it was successful.

How about 3rd down and 2-4 yards needed and you call a drop back or roll out pass with complex or long developing WR patterns to complete for a first down?

You force Sam to frequently throw into coverage or throw a pass no one can catch trying to sustain the drive when ther were better short yardage options that hat higher % of success.

In 2018 our offense was rocking, but it went downhill in 2019 and slid further in 2020. It seems like all the creativity and imagination went out of it. Defenses could stop us on short yardage because they knew exactly what we were going to do, especially on that 4th down against ISU. Of course, if you can’t make a foot, you probably don’t deserve to win.
 
Well against LSU we didn't try a jump ball, but we did line up like we were gonna run, then faked and it threw. It fooled them completely. Basically, it worked except for Ingram dropping it.

And is it just me or did it seem like getting rid of the dead weight through those that quit on the team helped today?
 
Our Offence had 0 turnovers, no PICs and no fumbles, especially no fumbles that cost us the game like Ingram's did.
 
Sure we don't generally look like that even against mediocre or bad teams. We didn't look like that against Texas Tech, TCU, or Baylor.
