Kavanaugh's SC Confirmation Hearings

Just watched an interview on CNN. This is all simply a delay tactic by the Democrats. They delayed announcing and now they will have her delay her in person testimony on Monday. They are trying to get this past the midterms.
Confirm now. Screw democrat Flake and jackass Corker. This is a political S Show

I guess it comes back to what advise and consent really means then.

If it means that the nominee is entitled to be confirmed, then it means nothing. There's no point in having advice and consent.

"Advise" suggests that the Senate should be able to give input on who gets on the Court. "Consent" suggests that they can shoot down a nomination if they so choose.

Somehow Trump got Gorsuch through... no sex accusations but was that before #metoo was born?

Very different dynamics. Gorsuch wasn't the swing vote. Gorsuch wasn't nominated near the midterm elections. "Judas" Flake hadn't yet decided not to seek reelection.

Add FWIW, every Democrat on the Judiciary Committee voted to kill the nomination. Furthermore, Schumer threatened to filibuster it.

The 3rd person named at the party by the woman just refuted all of it. So it’s now 3 against 1. Supposedly there is one more named person who hasn’t commented. Tomorrow is a critical day. If it continues to fall apart, it’s over.

Yep, if she doesn't show up, he will vote Yes. To his credit, Judas Flake made the same announcement.

Prediction - this is a calculated move by Democrats to see if they can shutdown the nomination long-term. Before, it was, "she has a right to be heard." Flake agreed and doesn't sound too unreasonable. Now, it's "the nomination must stop until there is a full FBI investigation (whatever that means)." Flake and Corker aren't going along, so they'll backpedal and get her to testify so they can suck political value from the hearing. This whole thing is a charade.

The Dems have been mulling around walking out of the Kavanaugh hearings for weeks, but haven't pulled the trigger. If Grassley calls for a vote, will the Dems walk out? If so, can the committee still vote without them? I'm not that hip on Parliamentary procedure.

Yes. You may have mentioned it before but the referral to the FBI sounded like the intent was to either delay or skuttle his nomination because "there's an investigation going on."

Meanwhile ...

Shocked I am
Ford will NOT testify Monday if the FBI does not do yet another investigation.
And now they are whining she should not have to sit in same room as Kavanaugh, even though NO ONE ever suggested it.
These Dems are flat out nuts. so bitter.

The Senator from Hawaii is obviously hepped up on goofballs. All men are responsible for the imaginary sexual assault on Ford.

Tuesday, Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) said in light of the sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh the men in this country and on the Senate Judiciary Committee need to “just shut up and step up.”

Hirono said, “Of corse it helps that there are women on that committee. But you know what? I expect the men in this country and the men in this committee and many of them —believe me because we all signed on to this letter to demand an FBI investigation. But really guess who’s perpetuating all of these kinds of actions? It’s the men in this country. I just want to say to the men in this country, just shut up and step up. Do the right thing for a change.”

She added, “You can say I’m a little upset by this, you know the unfairness of it.”

The difference between the left and the right...
Left: Believe the woman by default and assume the man committed the egregious actions and must be sacrificed. Afterall, this man has wounded our soul for not being pristine in the current lens of today's PC environment.
Right: Look for any discrepancies in the accusers statement and seek to discredit her and assassinate her character all based on the assumption that the accusation is 100% politically motivated.

And once again, you demonstrate a profound inability to take off your politically-clouded blinders and see this entire ordeal for the farce that it was. It was a crap allegation from the beginning brought for the sole purpose of attempting to torpedo the confirmation of the candidate. Or did you miss that even your fellow lib-tards have taken offense to the manner in which DiFi refused to release the information in a more timely manner, choosing instead to hold on to it far beyond the point at which it was known to her. AND...compounded by the alleged witnesses having ALSO come forward to say that the claim is crap.

It is ALSO interesting in your claimed distinctions that you essentially admit that the position adopted by the left is that due process of law simply does not exist anymore...

You forgot to mention that the left ignores the facts;

Specifically, the accuser has no facts whatsoever, just an allegation.

Facts on the side of the accused:

The accuser's parents lost a foreclosure proceeding in front of Kavanaugh's mother, who is also a judge.-motivation

The accuser scrubbed her social networking sites of the liberal crap she spewed- why hide that you are a Democrat prior to going public?-to hide your true motivation

The accuser's lawyer is a raging liberal.

The alleged assault was not reported at the time of the incident. Why, because it didn't happen

The accuser cant remember the place, time (even the year) this occurred. Why? Because someone may actually be able to discredit the allegation if such facts were presented.

The supposed "eyewitness" to the incident said it never happened, and that the accuser is nuts.

Another party supposedly at this party said he has no memory of such an event ever occurring.

The accuser wanted to keep the alleged incident private- so she called the liberal Washington Post!

etc.etc.

The handling of this allegation by Feinstein was absolutely politically motivated in terms of timing and handling. I've said so earlier on this thread. Of course, the R's handling of the event is equally political in nature (no subpeona for Mr. Judge?).

Calling it a "crap allegation" simply proves my point. You've assumed the accusation is politically motivated thus you might want to use the thumb rather than the finger with the "politically-clouded blinders" accusation. We don't know what happened with this woman that she felt the need to come forward to tell her story, whether her version of the events it accurate or not.

The right is far more interested in looking at the behavior of leftist pigs like Feinstein, showboating clowns like Booker and Harris, and discrediting them for their grossly inappropriate behavior.

I have heard nobody on the R side of the aisle impugning the accuser in any way at all.

Edit: By "the R side of the aisle", I am talking about the Republican members of Congress. Clearly, there are social media trolls on both sides - this is a given in today's climate. But I am only contrasting the behavior demonstrated by Congressional members of the two parties.

No can answer why in 2012 the accuser suddenly decided so she claims to talk about something she says happened 30 or so years ago.
And why her husband said she was so concerned that Kavanaugh would become a Supreme. Who was pres in 2012?
Then there was the tweet from someone who attended same school as acvuser and said she remembered the so called attack was the talk of the school for days
Except oops the accuser said she never told anyone.
Now Dems are trying to say this is like the AnitaHill story so of course the FBI should investigate
Uh that was about 2 Federal employees. Not 2 minor teens from 36 years AGO.

If the accuser truly thinks she rememberd something what reason would she have to not testify.

There has to be purported facts first before you can look for discrepancies. There is nothing there.

Here is how Hillary responded to Bill's accusers, back in the day

-----------------------
And again about Bill in 1998 --

“I don’t think that most women have come to the point where we’ve said, ‘Well this is so bad that, even if he’s better on the bigger issues, we can’t have him as president.’"

Wouldn't the FBI be able to determine if there were any facts? It took them 3 days to deliver a report on Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill.

As long as Judge sticks to his story I doubt Dr. Ford has anyone to corroborate her story. It will be a she said - he said situation.

NBC ran the story about the classmate who supposedly heard about the attacksince it was talked about for days.
NBC knew when they put the story on their website it could not be true but it took 10 paragraphs for NBC to point out the accuser said she never told anyone until 2012.
The headine and most of the story appears to be a classmate corroborating the accuser story
That is really chittyy but not surprising.

If there had been meat to this bone, then the bone would have been thrown LONG before Kavanaugh was a SCotUS nominee. He had the misfortune of being nominated in an era where accusations are all that is necessary to tank a career.

As a female who has been the victim of a sexual assault by a 'celebrity,' I get that there are occasions where you might not voice an incident right away. But I would not expect to be able to wait 30+ years to voice a claim that cannot even be corroborated and be taken seriously. And in this instance, the more people pushed for a hearing, the more the alleged victim went back into the shadows...quite frankly, I believe, because they did not want to risk being prosecuted for perjury (given that the testimony would have been under oath).

Do I believe that Brett was an angel in school? Hell no. But if he was a sexual predator, then I DO expect we would have heard about it long before now, which is why this entire thing reeks of politics and has from the beginning.

If we've learned anything in this #MeToo movement it's that time has not been a factor. Women may not have been comfortable before but now are coming out left and right about their previous interactions with males, many of them decades ago.

Recent reporting does not support your theory, in general. I'm not saying Kavanaugh was a habitual offender. Many hormone driven teen boys have likely done things that would have been considered sexual assault only to mature later, especially if alcohol was involved.
