Kavanaugh's SC Confirmation Hearings

Look back in this thread. I predicted she'd get a fat upfront payment for a book deal, as well as money off the daytime gossip show circuit. It wasn't hard to see it coming.

I dont know if this election closes the book on the Kavanaugh Confirmation, but it did close the book on a handful of Senate careers

There was a "Big 5" of vulnerable Senate Democrats
4 out of those 5 lost. All 4 of the losers voted against Kavanaugh
-- Donnelly
-- Heitkamp
-- McCaskill
-- Nelson
No. 5, the only one of them to survive, Joe Manchin, voted for Kavanaugh

I strongly suspect certain deals were cut behind closed doors to keep those folks in line with Chuckles Schumer. Heitkamp in particular had the look of someone ahsamed for so obviously sacrificiing her political career for a price. You could see it in her face. It will be interesting to see what they end up with, and where. Bernie Sanders' price was a new beach house, but he kept his day job. What about this group?

Bottom line -- Kavanugh did matter in the Rs retention of the Senate

Manchin won only by 3%. Tester is losing in MT, another dem smearer.

Manchin won only by 3%.

That's the Kavanaugh vote. It's time to offer him the chairmanship of Energy and Natural Resources if he switches parties, which would also fleece the traitorous Lisa Murkowski.

Tester is losing in MT, another dem smearer.

It's kinda cool that he looks like Meat Loaf, but he's a phony. The race is still too close to call though. Hope he loses.

Manchin won only by 3%. .....

That is one of the questions we cannot answer -- would Manchin have lost if he voted against Kavanaugh? Those other 4 outcomes suggest an outcome but we will never know for certain.

Montana is an odd place

I might be movin' to Montana soon
Just to raise me up a crop of dental floss

Raisin' it up
Waxin' it down
In a little white box
That I can sell uptown

By myself I wouldn't have no boss
But I'd be raisin' my lonely dental floss
Raisin' my lonely dental floss

Well I just might grow me some bees
But I'd leave the sweet stuff to somebody else
But then on the other hand I would

Keep the wax
'N melt it down
Pluck some floss
'N swish it aroun'

I'd have me a crop
An' it'd be on top
That's why I'm movin' to Montana

I think it's hard to argue otherwise. He's in the reddest of those states and still won. Knowing the impact of that in both directions depending on the location, I have very little doubt that it was the difference maker.

Now get him to switch parties.

My only argument is that it is impossible to know for certain.
This is the reality with all questions like this one.

House Dems have threatened to impeach Kavanaugh.
They can threaten all they want, but it is not something that would get through the Senate. Further, even some of the D talking heads last night were rightfully pointing out that the potential for blowback is real, as evidenced by the Clinton impeachment efforts.

Gianforte did hold Montana, by the way

As of this moment, it does look like Matt Rosendale will eke it out. Would be a great get for Trump, et al.

It's a little weird looking at their vote margins when you live in Texas. My local House race got more total votes than their entire statewide Senate vote. And Tester did vote against Kavanaugh too. I wonder if any of these Senate losers will later come forth and admit, "You know, I wish I had known these women were lying." Or something like that.

Tester got the last remaining votes to win

Today was the ceremonial investiture photo op for Justice Kavanaugh with the President + Mitch McConnell and Merrick Garland

Something about that bottom picture looks fake. It looks like Kavanaugh is standing next to a cardboard cutout of Trump.

I would like to know who lodged the complaints and what they are?
Surely the people who did this knew it could go nowhere if he was confirmed.

To be clear, the complaints were dismissed for lack of authority, not on the merits or lack of merit. I'm not saying they do have merit. I don't think they do, and some very clearly do not. However, they weren't dismissed because of that.

That is what I said. I want to know who lodged the complaints since they knew they couldn't go anywhere. I'd like to see the complaints and who authored them.
It was strictly a political stunt.

The article isn't totally clear, but it looks like they were filed before his confirmation.

Since the complaints accuse him of lying and being aggressive during the confirmation hearings they had to have been filed at the end maybe during the vote.
But whoever filed knew at that point he was more than likely to be confirmed.
Which means the complaints go no further. This was done as a cheap stunt.
I hope the complaints come out as well as the names of the filers
