Just when I thought Obama could lose re-election

He did this in college. It's funny. Obama does retarded things - now - and they aren't funny. If this causes him to lose steam and lose, he wasn't going to win anyway.

Damn -- I'd hate for a guy to lose an election over a great prank... If he was pulling over and abusing strangers, that would be a little different. My impression -- Nice to know the guy is not (or at least hasn't always been) as wooden and humorless as he appears on TV.

Doing stupid things in college doesn't hurt your political career. Lying about stupid things you did in college will.

If he handles it like Obama handled the cocaine (admitting he was a stupid college kid), nobody will care. As much as I disagree with Obama's policies, I don't hold the cocaine use against him, even though I never tried cocaine myself.

If he pulls a "I didn't inhale," they will care.

It is bizarre that anyone believes Obama is a lock for reelection. Its fine to believe that he may win, but what makes anyone believe he is a lock?

Stagnant economy which shows no short-term sign of improving
high unemployment
disappointing job reports
ridiculously high deficits
approval below 50
high disapproval poll numbers
even with Romney in the LV polls. Undecideds usually break towards the challenger.
recent gaffes making him appear out of touch on the economy
Wisconsin loss
Obamacare likely to get struck down by Supreme Court
Etc....

Even Obamagirl won't endorse him!

wait....he pranked two girls who were out on dates with his friends by impersonating an officer?

The story doesn't exactly support the claim of "routinely". That's some great journalism right there.

Burnt Orange Bevo…for the last 10 years I have been working on Mop's simplified theory of politics. It basically says that going back as far as I can in my knowledge of presidential politics, the most likable guy has won. I start with Reagan beating Carter. Carter was a kind and likable man but Reagan was more likable to more people.

The same goes for 1984 with Reagan vs. Mondale.

1988: Then Bush Sr. (who was not terribly likable but was reasonably likable) had a stroke of luck and got to go against Dukakis.

1992: Next we had Bush go up against Clinton and that was an easy choice (in terms of likability).

1996: Clinton vs. Dole….no context.

2,000 Bush vs. Gore …a little closer, but I still think Bush is overall more likable than Gore.

2004: Bush vs. Kerry….not too difficult a choice

2008 Obama vs. McCain …easy choice

2012: ?

This may kill my theory because so far I think Obama is far more likable even though I will not be voting for him (nor did i previously)…but I would not at all be surprised if Romney wins.

Should be interesting!

What an immature stupid thing to do. I hope Romney is ashamed at how childish he acted 45 years ago.
None of us ever did anything so stupid and silly
and thought it was funny at the time.

I don't care if somebody is rich and running for office. I just don't personally like candidates that grew up rich a-holes and don't have the same perspective as the ordinary American.

Would this story about a stupid thing Romeny did 45yeara ago really affect your vote?
Were you going to vote for Romney but are now rethinking it after reading this story?

mop's post rings true ... that list of presidential election losers is a sad reminder of what we've had to choose from, especially from the Democrats.

3 Bush terms and all they had to do was beat Dukakis, Gore, and Kerry.. Damn

I personally think Obama is an arrogant prick. So no I don't personally like him. I like Romney better as a person and why he is running for President.

The amount of personal pronouns that are used by Obama are telling about a person's character.

Pharm
You were never going to vote for Romney so you attach more concern for the 2 pranks that have been attributed to Romeny 45-50 yeara ago.

And there are as many more poor kids who did pranks as there are ricj kids.

Put yourself back 52 years would you have voted for rich kid JFK?

Yeah, I really hate those rich guys running for President, like FDR and JFK. They had no perspective for the ordinary American.
