Just wait until you get to the SEC

He certainly didn’t turtle in Tuscaloosa. I didn’t mean to suggest that he did. And there were lots of games last year where he didn’t (edit) turtle - particularly OU.
But this doesn’t mean he has completely lost that skill. Like a recessive gene cropping up after a few generations.

I’m not saying he will decide to hit the brakes in the second half of games again, but until we see more we have to admit the potential.
Fair enough. The initial post just struck me as a very strange time to bring up this particular complaint, coming directly on the heels of an aggressive and very well-called game on the road.

I think we need to see a bit more out of Sark before I will be convinced he doesn’t have our O turtle-up in second half’s and cost us a game or two.

I have been as critical as anyone of Sark for the same reasons, so I get ya. Last year the team and Sark did get very tight in many games.
Saturday definitely flipped that script.
Sark's game plan in this game was to swing for the fences, and go down swinging. He has said this was very intentional, rather than playing it safe to help the offense "get into a rhythm"
And now that we have seen how this team responds to playing aggressive my hope is that Sark goes all gas.
That was his intention from the start (all gas no brakes). We did not really have the talent until now. We have the talent to do it now. and Sark knows it.

Its fair to be a little skeptical but the difference this year is you have a more veteran team on both sides of the ball. If we reach the point that the D gives the O several more possessions a game either from turn overs or 3 & outs that only helps propel this season forward. We are not elite on O, yet. We could be but the oline has to come to play and be able to generate runs when the other team expects. Sark was bull headed on the run against bama which is very hard to run on but it was the right thing to do. We averaged 2.8ypr so thats not great. Bama averaged 3.1ypr. If we can get to the point of being 4 or better then we will be very difficult to deal with. That requires everyone who is supposed to block to actually do that. Trust me AD Mitchell had to have had a talking to after his poor effort against rice. He did much better against bama. He will never take on an DL or LB but he can effectively get in the way of db's to help the rb!!! Ewers being able to hit some long balls will help. One game he didnt, one game he did. Lets see what happens saturday.

To your point about ypc stats. Can you imagine this team with Bijan still on it? Good Lord, we would be scary.

I still have the 2016 Notre Dame game in the back of my mind. We'd been destroyed the year prior. When we won (and I still have the paper ticket to prove I was there) I was beyond ecstatic. Notre Dame was ranked around #10 or so. And then it turns out that Notre Dame wasn't really a #10 team. They only won 4 games that year. I don't know that Alabama will do the same thing...but that is why I have to see more before I lose my skepticism.

A lot of things different from that year that doesn’t change game to game: experience in key positions, DL play, skill player talent, depth, etc.

I feel the same way, I’m not expecting Bama to fall like that but if Bama loses 3-4 games? And we lose 2?? It’s possible, we have a few trap games, traveling to TCU, Iowa St. and KSU is looking strong this year. Sark is correct in saying we have to replicate our performance, I was happy to hear that from him even though I know he knows.

I'm not sure our previous two coaches knew HOW to replicate a good performance when they had one. I have a lot more faith in Sark's ability to do so.
