Just have a feeling

I know he wasn't 5-star, but we got Nate Vasher late, and I'll be damned if he didn't play like a 5-star recruit. Nate was a great Longhorn.

I have a REALLY good feeling about Jeffcoat and am a bit more reserved about Hicks because of the whole OOS thing.

I see White as a longshot now based on how it has played out so far given the principles that this staff applies to recruiting overall. What I am saying is that I don't think we're going to chase Darius aggressively and I just don't feel that he is going to independently take the two or three steps that will be required on his side to come into the fold - though I would be extremely pleased if he does.

This is straight from the gut FWIW, no inside dope or anything like that.

Thoughts?

If White wasn't completely out of the picture before, and I believe he was, Cobbs closed that deal out. I have believed for months Hicks would be a Horn, just based on perusing various recruiting forums and reading things said by Hicks and his HS coach. There's a great relationship there between Hicks and Muschamp, I believe better than the one between Jeffcoat and the UT staff. I think the way UT's defense is playing -- killer, exciting, obviously fun for the players, particularly when you play for a coach the D-guys clearly admire in Boom -- has got to be increasingly attractive to JJ. My hope is that getting Hicks (only my feeling) helps bring in JJ. What future Sunday player -- and JJ will be regardless of where he goes to college -- wouldn't want to play for a lights-out defense, a guy like Boom, and a team that's going to be in the MNC mix for the foreseeable future?

All are good kids, but I think the most likely would be Hicks or Jeffcoat. They will have to choose where they feel comfortable. But if they want to play for a great team, a great school, in a great city...and also want a very good chance to go to the NFL, then Texas is top choice.

The best thing Texas has going on Jeffcoat is that Cougar High and defense are mutually exclusive. Both Jackson and Jim know the way to the pros for defensive players doesn't run through Houston.

Hopefully Coach Boom has impressed the family enough as Plano kids tend to prefer ou or aggy. Outside of Cougar High I would think USC has the best shot.

Texas jack,

No, no, the void of a late five star recruit committing to TEXAS is not my reasoning. But I will tell you what sonny, if anyone of these three kids commits to TEXAS I will be happy to come to this very thread and eat crow. So lets wait ninety days and see who signs and then you can either tell me I was wrong, or I will tell you "I told you so." Fair enough, I won't have anything else to say on this subject.

Guys this is not earthshattering, but given the latest recruiting service news, I am not sure that this won't be both the best class and the best "close" MB has ever put together.

The Link

Posted on soonerfans on a thread about Darius White, is picture of, I am assumming, Darius White with his dad smiling holding up a new Texas 'Dad" T-shirt smiling, with the caption 'this doesn't look good for us......

That would be big news if it comes to fruition. I think the odds of Hicks and Jeffcoat to UT are greater than 50%, although Jeffcoat will take much more time and effort before a decision is made.

I just prayed and the answer I got was all 3 will commit to the Horns.

Now...I'm not sure who answered, it could have been God, the Devil, or my one of my other personalities.

Speaking of just a feeling, I was listening to the pre-game radio show prior to the Baylor game, and one of the recruiting gurus was interviewed, and sorry, can't remember which one. Maybe one of you heard it and can fill in the details.
But he said there will be a major de-commit soon (within two weeks), and the player will commit to the Horns. No real clues as to who this mystery player might be, but the guy said it was a name we would all recognize, and it was just a matter of finding time for an additional meeting with the coaches.
Anyone else hear this, or know what might be afoot?

maybe an OL whose All-Pro OL dad reportedly said the school his son committed to had the best system for him, but has now decided that isn't the best place afterall?

I REALLY, REALLY want Jeffcoat and think he is right there for us as much as anyone else that may be in his mix. Does that count for anything?

Hicks would be REAL nice, too and I do sense some good vibes on that deal though the whole OOS thing tempers my enthusiasm. Something in my gut tells me he follows the path of least resistance and ends up at Ohio State.

White would be like getting a Mac laptop with all of the upgrades under the tree from your grandparents when you were expecting the usual stuff like a sweater. I would be stoked, but I still see it as a low probability event.

I am encouraged overall by what I have been reading on this thread. Winning another MNC, which is probable IMO, would definitely help Mack top off the tank with some of these 5 stars.

I've been a good boy all year this year. I really have. Hopefully, my good karma, another MNC and Mack's snake oil gets us all three of these dudes. That would be ALLSOME!

Accuratehorn - I hope you are. (accurate that is)
Now I really want to know who it is, & who the guru was.

Well, the lsu board seems to think that Accuratehorn's guy is WR Mike Davis.

That would be cool because he is a badass.

How many scholarships do we have? I think we've got a great shot at all three. And now perhaps Davis, too? Gawwd, it's good to be Texas.

And if scholarships become an issue, are there any red flags (grades, behavor, diva?) that would give us 2nd thoughts about taking any of these players? They seem to have good families and level heads, but I don't know Davis' story.
