John Wall to Baylor

The interesting question would be: If you knew the only way to get TJ Ford or Kevin Durant was to invoke this practice, would you have been OK with it?

Note: I am not in any way insinuating that this is what happened.

JB: You're saying this is the only way Baylor could get a No. 1 player. You probably are right. But if you don't like it, you can say that too. No one will hold it against you.

That's not my point. It's easy to criticize a decision your own team hasn't made. I just wanted to see what the reaction would be if you knew the only way to get one of those guys was by doing something you don't condone. Simply a hypothetical, nothing more.

Great news for Baylor! Congrats!

Baylor has had major basketball scandals in the mid'80s, mid '90s, and of course a few years ago. Each time, I think they surely will fix the structural issues in their AD that allow compliance issues to happen. This may be legal, but the BU AD needs to keep a close eye on that program.

Baylor should just have Drayton McLane sign Wall to a baseball contract, then we wouldn't have to mess with hiring the AAU coach.

My original post saying K-State and Kansas did it was posted as fact, nothing more. I have no problem with what Drew has done in an attempt to get the #1 player in the country to come play at Baylor.

If it is within the rules of the NCAA, you take advantage of it.

And this whole bit about how Baylor fans should hold themselves to a higher standard because it is a Baptist school- it is a school of 13,000 students and I would say more than half who attend/attended Baylor could care less about the religious affiliation. I went there because it was a good school academically and a good fit for me. It is Baptist affiliated- I could care less.

The "One and Done" type players, such as Durant, Beasley, Mayo, etc. are usually great for exciting the fan base and giving good publicity for the school, but in terms of how well the team does as a result of picking up these bad asses is an interesting point to consider.

Durant's only season here was a good one, but we didn't go too far in the Tourney. Kstate had almost similar results with Beasley as they won their first game but were blown out by Wisconsin. USC with Mayo lost to Beasley's Kstate team in the first round.

The thing with Baylor's situation is that they have some serious athletes on the team already, and the addition of John Wall will be insane. Also, guard play seems to be more important to college basketball. They are going to be tough.

Durant and Beasley were similar in that the teams had to rely immensely on their abilities. Texas while talented had virtually zero experience to rely on for that season. KSU outside of Walker was Mayo's nba style interfered with USC's team unity.

A better example of what a a one and done can provide is Rose or Anthony.

Not 5 years after Carlton Dotson and Dave Bliss?

That program should have been disbanded in 2004.

Such a proud tradition of shenanigans....
