Jim Spencer is getting excited

I went out in my driveway last night around 9PM just before the storm hit because there was a tornado warning in my area. I live on the northern edge of Cedar Park about 1 mile south of LHS.

I stood there for a minute thinking I was hearing thunder rumbling. It was not thunder. It was a tornado. Unbelievable sound. I had never heard one before. It was a constant low rumble and it was moving northeast. I could not see it and I do not know if it was on the ground but it was fairly close. I tried to see it during the lightning flashes but could not. Pretty damn scary for sure.

But I could tell it was moving away from me by where the sound was. I stayed out there for about 10 minutes until it began to hail.

I will never forget that sound.

Sooo... I've been on 12 roofs; Southern edge is Enfield a few blocks from Lake Austin, Northern is 43rd just a bit E of Hyde Park.

All had damage & are going to be "totalled" by insurance (i.e. full paid replacement less deductible). One of them had 3 tree branches (large) stuck out of the roof & I'll be tarping that one up tomorrow around 11a.

There were a lot of downed trees in the Barton Springs area. A friend of mine had a large cedar elm split, with half landing on his roof and half taking out his power line. It looks like the roof damage was minimal, though.
