Jim Spencer is getting excited

It doesn't get any more exciting for a weatherman, or weather nerd, than storms like the one northwest of Austin. That's a beast of a thunderstorm.

I wouldn't be suprised if it produces a F3 tornado.

Funnel clouds are happening, though.

I'm a little surprised that the tornado warning was issued over such a broad area so early. Maybe that's an indication of the potential severity.

I think he refs basketball, too. Maybe college. He's definitely a huge sports fan (in addition to being a weather nerd).

I'm pretty sure he posts on hornfans.

He posts here?

Hey, Jim! When the purple part of the storm is coming to a neighborhood, can you adjust the map so that area isn't underneath your ******* logo? Thanks!

Larry is probably digging out from the hail right about now.

More storms are developing west of Austin. It would be better if they formed a squall line instead of individual cells as Jim just pointed out on the TV. There's less chance of tornados with a long squall line. It's going to be a long night for the weather folks and law enforcement.

No hail, barely any rain if any at all.

Wow. That latest storm just blew through at 55 mph here at the fire station. That was some serious sh*t. Thought the flagpole was gonna come down.

Sucks being away from the wife & kids at times like these.

Hope it didn't blow the roof off my house.

I was down on Lamar, near 6th when it all came down. The power was out that whole stretch about midnight. There are downed power lines, trees and limbs all the way through central Austin. It was a maze and had to turn around a few times near the campus area, backtrack and try another road.

There is a massive tree down in my yard. The trunk is in the neighbors yard but the tree is in mine. The fence...what fence, lol. I should have gotten that saw on a stick at Home Depot today, damnit. Was gonna do it tomorrow but I assume they will all be sold out. So much for renting a chainsaw too.

Guess I will have to hope my friends with one get their stuff cut up soon. Large Brush collection was scheduled for next week. I have a feeling it will be moved back a little bit.

I cannot see any damage to the roof, no big limbs on it. Hope y'all are through it clear.

KXAN and KVUE really had that nastiness covered last night at about 12:30 - 1:00 AM when the **** was blowing through Tarrytown and central Austin. Both of the stations were doing infomercials or the like at that time. News 8 had their live radar going and some lady doing play-by-play, and she almost **** in her pants when the building started shaking.

I caught the 10 PM news, and watched Mr. Jim.
Then clunked my way to the garden and covered the tomatos.

I don't recall such a storm in 25 years in Au... except about '84 or so
(hail, that is).

When these spring storms come, Jims' the man... since we're so far south in tornado ally, and since he grew up in Okly-homa, I bet he is well aware of what how those buggars can just drop out of the sky.

NCAA / ROX... sent you a PM for a inspection, if you see this and haven't checked, get back with me please... at your convenience.

I was up listening to the News 8 chick and she opened a back door during the broadcast and you could hear the heavy winds and hail blowing through. She said something to the effect that she'd never seen anything like it and was freaking out when the building started to shake.

I've always been a KXAN/Jim Spencer fan, but actually switched to KVUE last night when things got bad. KVUE spent more time saying when a storm would be where, etc. Jim got WAY too into the little gizmos. I'm a weather geek and love the technical jargon, but got turned off by how excited they were about the toys.

that is 4 hail events in Central Austin since the beginning of the year. Pretty unusual.

I have not spoken to my neighbor but I assume he has some responsibility to help me get the tree off our fenceline and up and out of my backyard, right? Sorry NCAA, did not see your post till now and you are out and about...prob. as busy as can be too. You will be able to buy a brewery, not a beer.
