Jeff Capel -- 'Stillwater a hellhole'

As someone who attended OU and UT, here are my thoughts:

OU's campus is prettier/more pleasing to the eye than Texas'. Texas has WAY more concrete/drab buildings.

Norman is a great town. Austin is a great city. It's silly to compare the two. I prefer living in Austin because I like living in cities, but Norman is not some dump place, and it beats the hell out of places like Waco or College Station.

A&M's campus looks like it is raining every day, bleh. UT does have the tower which helps. Not saying UT's campus sucks, but OU's really is quite nice for anyone who has actually been and looked objectively.

I remember watching a UT/OSU football game on the tube, and when the camera pulled back to give the tv audience a shot of the city, the "skyline" of Stillwater was dominated by an ancient, rusty, water tower. It made it look like some little town you had to slow down in on the way to somewhere else.

Norman is a flat, non-descript suburb. The campus seems nice, but there really aren't many unique landmarks.

I think of the place as tapioca pudding. It will do in a pinch, but in no way do I crave it.

Pardon me but anyone who would say that OU's campus is better than UT's is nuts, even if they are a Sooner homer. If you have lived in the midwest like I have OU has a dreary sameness quality about it. In some respects it looks like an old high school campus in New Jersey (Dwight Morrow, to be specific).

But what surprised me is the 7-11 quality of Norman! That town sucks! If you go there on a Saturday in the Fall when OU is out of town you'd think Summer vaction had been extended.

That one sooner was right, you can't compare Austin to Norman anymore than you can compare a drooling mongoloid to a Nobel Prize winner.

Oh and yes Stillwater sucks ***, too.
