Jeff Capel -- 'Stillwater a hellhole'

ESPN is doing some sort of behind the scenes/all access with a few teams and one of them seems to be OU.

They had the cameras on Capel in the locker room after OU beat Okie State. At the tail end of this clip, he says "Let's hit the showers and get the hell out of this hellhole."

There are many hell holes/**** holes in the state of Oklahoma. Norman is not one of them. Stillwater certainly is. In fact, OU's campus is much nicer than UT's, in many of my Texas friends opinions that have been here.

Personally, i was most surprised by the "shower" comment.
By hellhole he ment all of oklohoma. i think their next game is outside of the state.

OUballa,

Sorry, I am going to have to disagree with you. I spent six months on the OU campus doing Engineering work. The Norman campus is nice, but it cannot compare to the UT campus. I will say this however, I am an engineer and not an architect.

As for the city of Norman, I will say this.. They are some of the nicest people in the world until they find out that you live in Austin and went to The University of Texas.

I have been to all three. I would rank them

UT (not even close)
OU (kinda ugly, dirty)
OSU (complete ********)

OU's campus has one thing on UT's campus: it doesn't smell like grackle ****.

It smells like ****, though, so that's a wash.

you guys crack me up, take the bait for anything. I know you would never admit OU's campus is nice, partly because most have probably never been there. The one guy that has admits it was nice, I don't know about UTs being better though.

Make you a deal balla...you be happy north of the Red River, and I'll stay south...that way, neither of us can be wrong.

Unfortunately for me, I have been to OU's campus several times because I have an okie brother in law. OU's campus reminds me of A&M's campus. I do not consider A&M's campus 'nice'.

Im a UT grad that lives in OK and have been to norman/OU several times. OUs campus is nice but not unique at all. It's no nicer that half the other cookie cutter large state universities in the midwest.
They do spend a **** ton of money on landscaping though.

As far as Norman vs Austin goes........................Nobody with a lick of sence is going to debate this one.

I'll echo was hooklahoma said. OU's campus is fairly flat with not much landscaping. They spend a shitload on the landscaping, though, and it looks quite nice.

Also, OU's campus is a LOT nicer than most of the ones in Texas. A&M, Tech, Baylor, Houston, etc., etc., all suck royally. UT's is nice but it has an urban feel which can be good or bad, depending on perspective.

One reason so many kids from Texas go to OU is that unlike any other campus in Texas, OU's looks like a stereotypical midwestern type campus.

In the Big 12, I'd rate UT's and Colorado's above OU. Kansas would be about on par with them. It goes downhill fast after that.

I can tell you this, after being in both places the basketball facility @ OU as far as everything but the actual arena is much nicer in Norman than it is in Austin w/ all the upgrades OU has made w/in the past few years.
Texas is great as far as size & when it's actually sold out there is no comparison but the actual sights inside the arena except for the actual court things are sweeter in Norman.
I think when Texas has a chance to add to it's history then it'll be cool but until Barnes hit town there wasn't much to brag about for Texas basketball.

Oh, and btw....Norman doesn't have people living in cardboard boxes under a bridge thats running right along side of our campus either.
The surrounding area is very OU > UT unless you're just accustom to seeing stuff like that.

The actual arena (where they are bouncing the basketball) is much nicer than OU's.
LNC is built for concerts & guest speakers & stuff like that, Not a basketball arena.
As far as arenas go, OU probably has one of the worse in the entire B12.
It's when you step out & walk through the Legend's Lobby or whatever history thingymagig you have that is pretty much non-existent.
Men's & Women's basketball offices that flow right in w/ the "history walk" on the exit out of the arena is top notch.
The locker rooms & other stuff the general public can't see & the players get to enjoy I'm sure are much sweeter in Austin than OU even w/ our recent upgrades but walking out of the arena & having your history displayed & the renovations that they've done in that area are far nicer than anything Texas had up till last year when I went.
Any objective person would agree.
Oh, & GIA is pretty sweet on game day.
As far as atmosphere, it's the best in this region.
I was talking more about what is pleasing to the eyeball as a casual obsever would see walking in & out & as far as that conversation goes there's no comparision between OU & Texas.
We have an established history in both sports that dates back several decades & have the hardware to show it off whereas Texas is pretty much just now starting out i that area.

UT campus isn't especially "nice" to me. Not like we have an ugly campus, but it's not built with some stunning aesthics all around either, and I'm fine with that.

I'm not sure what bridge is being talked about, since the closest bridge to campus is probably MLK and I-35, which is like a half-mile away from most of campus; not much happens East of San Jacinto.
