Jarboe Dismissed from OU Football Team

i am not sure the whole story is coming out here. it was reported yesterday, from multiple "inside" sources, that he would not be kicked off. in fact, stoops made a comment about it, although he didn't say he wasn't going to be dismissed.

i have a feeling that jarboe must have reacted in some way that gave stoops some indication this person did not deserve a second/third chance. either that, or he reacted in a way that indicated to stoops this was going to be the next of many boneheaded moves, and they gun incident was not a one time "bad judgement" thing.

heard he was ultra talented, it's a shame he wasn't a good citizen.

on a side note, i bet the friend that took it upon him/her self to post that video on youtube is feeling like a big ole piece of **** right now.

Sha-bang, just like that. Wow

What did he do? Must of been bad, I heard Bradford and the backup QB were selling cocaine and they didn't get kicked off or punished in any way.

The whole cocaine story was a web hoax. Some Nebraska fans are getting sued by the Daily Oklahoman for using their likeness.

As I said in the thread on the other board, there is more to this than a silly video. He was summarily booted after Stoops publicly stated a video wouldn't be the cause of a player dismissal.

Another incredible waste of talent. I just don't understand how someone who hasn't even begun their college career can blow it like that. This story must be much deeper.

The deeper story could be as simple as the coach meeting with the player to explain that the video was inappropriate in light of his past gun conviction and the player failing to demonstrate any insight into it being inappropriate and/or refusing to promise not to do it again. Then the coach would know that it was time to dismiss the player. Congratulations to Bob Stoops.

I think OldHippie has the right idea. I bet the kid either had a poor attitude during the meeting or just didn't get what all the hubub was about. I had to fire someone for something similar once. They did something wrong after repeated warnings so I had an official meeting with them but didn't plan on firing them, until the way they acted in the meeting.
