James expected to stay in draft

Hamilton could not keep up with Daniel Gibson, Jason Terry, or John Salmons. Or JJ Reddick for that matter. Pick any 2 guard in the NBA or their backup and Hamilton could not guard him. And I don't want to hear that he is in college and they are NBA players. Hamilton will likely be in the league by next year.

He may not ever play 4 in college (but I still think Barnes will experiment), but he will certainly not play 2 in the NBA.

I still think you are way off on Hamilton. He's a playmaking three but in Texas' offense that is the same as a 2 (think Mouton) Barnes may play a 4 out 1 in with Hamilton being the next big (Pittman obviously being the 1), but he would use a 2-3 zone in those instances to protect Pittman and Hamilton wouldn't be guarding any 4's.

Ya'll have convinced me that my hopes for Hamilton at the 4 are probably off base. I think you hit it on the head with what I believe may happen with 4 wings and 1 big. However, I will not concede that Hamilton will play 2 in NBA or really in college for that matter. He does not have the speed to keep up with other 2s.

It seems to me that Damion's game resembles that of Brandon Bass, i.e., strong, athletic, ferocious rebounder, nice mid-range jumper, but undersized for the 4 and not enough quickness, handle, or range for the 3.

Bass languished on the Hornets' bench for a couple seasons before emerging as an extremely valuable (and affordable) role player for the Mavericks.

It'd be great if Damion can find himself a niche like the one Bass has carved out in Dallas. It'd be even better (for me, as a Longhorn fan) if waited until the '10 draft to do it.

I think it will make a pretty big difference whether he measures closer to 6'8" or 6'6". I have a feeling 6'6" is more likely.

Bass has come leaps and bounds in his ability to handle the ball. If Damion can figure out how to use his speed and athleticism to create mismatches AND still get a tinge of control, he'd be very much like Bass in the league.

Which is why he should stay in the draft, because he's not going to work on that role if he played for Texas in 2009-10.

Bass has a ridiculously long arms and a bigger fram than James. I also believe James will prove to be 1 or 2 inches shorter than Bass. James is going to have to do his damage in the NBA as a garbage type Darwin Hamm or Daunte Jones type player.

What makes y'all so sure Damion will get drafted?? If anywhere it will be towards the bottom of the 2nd round.

He can't handle the ball, he can't get his own shot, he's awful at the free throw line...

I love the guy...he's been great while he's been on campus...but I just don't see him playing very long in the NBA.

**cough**PJ Tucker**cough

He's taller, more athletic, and less of a head case than Tucker. Tucker was a PF in a 6'4" frame. James could actually play a little bit of backup 3 in the league if he worked on the role pretty hard. He'd be a good fire-starter off the bench, grabbing some boards and the occasional slam dunk.

Plus, it's a really weak year for the draft. If you don't think someone is willing to take a risk on him earlier than the end of the 2nd round, you're wrong.

If James wants to be compared to Bass (which isn't entirely unreasonable, given their respective frames and abilities), he needs to work on his mid-ranger jumper a LOT. Bass has one of the best mid-range jumpers on the entire Mavs roster (although it did take a bit of a dip this season--last season it was phenomenal).
