Is Prairie View really that rural?

Husker
I can't speak for all states but Texas offers a vote id card free
and takes great pains to accommodate the very small % of people who don't have the typical ID needed
Texas offers mobile vans to offer free id to people in counties without permanent DPS sites .
And offers an option for the dwindling number of people who were born outside of an hospital and do not have a BC.
So for practical purposes Texas makes it as easy as possible
BUT still requires people to prove who they are.

Do you have an issue with requiring people to validate who they are and that they are legally valid to vote?

You are too funny. All of a sudden you are concerned with how much a gov't pays>
Really too funny. NOW you are concerned about gov't spending?
Husker
do You think there should be any standard or requirement at all for someone to vote?

Husker just wants dem votes, legitimacy doesn't matter. No wonder the country is going to hell.

People having a credible legitimate ID is a good thing for every citizen.
Each state is bending over backwards at yes a cost because you have Dem groups whining that people are disenfranchised, like the idiot girl who was too lazy to go get a free card when the mobile unit was in the town or the woman from Miss who says she can't afford the $42.00 to get her BC, her BC costs $15.00.
The Dems don't do a good kob of vetting.
The point is if we put the responsibility on people to get their own free photo ID the states wouldn't have to spend so much money would they?
Then what would the Dems complain about>

You say this is an attempt to disenfranchise dem voters. Can you cite some examples of people who would actually be disenfranchised?

I'm not saying this is an attempt to disenfranchise dem voters but all voters. This certainly helps out the extremes, especially when less than 50% of eligible voters even vote.

Credible ID? Yes, I think it's important to have a credible ID but then why tie that to voting?

I think you're missing my point entirely. While you attempt to justify the reason for spending money on voter ID bills you're missing the trump card, evidence of mass voter fraud. There simply isn't any. What fraud we do have evidence of is rare and relatively minor in nature (see the "dead people voting in King County example). To commit widespread voter fraud is simply too costly and troublesome based on existing rules. So, why add on more?

Again, show me the data that says there is a problem and I'll likely shift my stance. Nobody has done that in a credible way other than saying the lack of evidence doesn't mean it isn't a problem which is an extremely poor way to set policy directions. Heck, that line of thinking got us into an unjustified war in Iraq.

Do these various liberal orgs who do the voter signups vet the signatures? Absolutely not and they've been kicked the curb because of this fact. Then again, these voter signups make the dem pollsters happy but the facts are that those people rarely vote thus have minimal impact on any election. Furthermore, those signing up with fictitious information vote much less. For those groups that have been shown to have fictitious voters signed up it's always been tied back to a person getting paid based on the volume of sign-ups. In other words, a lazy person not some nefarious attempt to steal an election.

OK
It MIGHT have been $42.00 in 2012 ( nothing to prove that)but did she send for it in the intervening 2 years? OR use any of the other methods in the past 2 years
OR is she going to start whining again?

You keep saying there is no evidence of voter fraud using fake voter cards. HOW would anyone know?
Previously if someone has a fake id to vote how would you know? if you show up with a voter registration card there is no other check or even way to check.
So far no one has put forth an example of someone who can not get a free voter ID.

This might also stem double voting which is a problem with the snowbirds and there were several instances of it in last election.

I asked you if you were opposed to verifying that people who vote are who they say they are and are legally allowed to vote. Are you?

Horn6721-

I'm not opposed to it but again, the data presented thus far hasn't shown their to be a problem. Common sense and experience tells me that illegal immigrants generally try to keep as low a profile as possible to avoid detection. They avoid presentation of their ID's as much as possible. Heck, my wife is a teacher in a Title 1 school and they generally don't put any contact information on the forms.

Based on the lack of data and my own personal experience I think spending anything on such a trivial problem is akin to the "bridge to nowhere" that was being built in Alaska. It's an absolute waste of money.

??
1. Where did I say illegals were voting?
but
2. If an illegal OR anyone wanted to vote Do you think they'd provide real info? How hard is it to get fake ID? Illegals do it all the time and then could they OR anyone get a voter registration card? How would anyone know?
The people at the polls did not check if someone had a card. So how would you know if it was fake or not?

or how would anyone know if say ACORN or Patriots Forever got a bunch of fake id, registered and got voter registration cards and voted?
how would the person at the polls know everything was fake?
Husker do you object to knowing the people voting are who they say they are and that they are legally entitled to vote?

I would like to know how people function in society without a valid ID? How do you get a job? How do you register for school? How do you cash a check?

I can maybe understand some older folks, but anyone younger than 60? C'mon who are you kidding?

By the way, fiscally conservative, mobile vans are cheaper than putting an actual brick and mortar DPS office in every county or city. A mobile van can take the place of a dozen brick and mortar locations so you should be in favor of them as they are saving DPS money, but don't let common business sense get in the way.
