Is HRC really the best the Democrats have to offer?

Solid point about union voters and HRC. Later, I will look at the order of the primaries by state, but it seems like a lot of strong union states go first. If Warren could get some momentum going, it could be interesting. I personally hope she wins as I am not a HRC fan at all.

Larry, here's a schedule. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democr...ries,_2016#Schedule_of_primaries_and_caucuses

(BTW, I don't know how to post a link with a title like I did in the old forum. However, I've seen others do it, so I know it's possible. Any pointers are appreciated.)

Unions are going to be disproportionately big in every state's Democratic primary. However, when it comes to union states, there's a union presence in Iowa which is obviously very early. In February you've got Michigan and New York. Unions are obviously big there. Overall, it looks like they're pretty evenly distributed though.

Warren was a republican before 1996 and is now pretty far left. Is this similar to Perry's switch? I honestly don't know that much about her.

I don't know too much about that, and I'm sure HRC will bring that up if Warren runs. However, it wouldn't be hard for her to explain that away. The Northeastern GOP had a liberal wing prior to the mid 1990s, and sometimes their candidates were more liberal than their Democratic opponents were. Look at Joe Lieberman's first Senate race against Lowell "Turd in the Punchbowl" Weicker.

What could actually hurt her? Suppose she gave money to Mitt Romney when he ran a tough race against Ted Kennedy back in 1994. That could at least raise some questions. I still don't think it would cause substantial damage.

However, the problems she had in 2008 are still there. In fact, if anything, they've gotten worse, and that means the opportunity for a more genuine progressive like Warren is definitely there.
I'd take President Warren over President Clinton in a heartbeat. But I don't think anyone the Repulicans have to offer would beat Clinton in the general election, and I don't have that same feeling about Warren as the Dem nominee.
