Is Colt an NFL QB?

Me and my friends were having this debate last weekend.

But depending on this season and the next(which is a huge if), I think he has a chance to be drafted. He showed promise in 2 seasons and can only improve from here.

The only problems could be height and weight... But thats not always a factor if you're a gunslinger like Colt!

No. I still have reservations about him being a bigtime Div I Q-back. This year will tell all for me. You never know though. If he improves dramatically this year, then maybe he'll turn some heads.

I knew before he even stepped foot on the playing field that he was going to be an NFL QB. How many NFL QBs have swam out to the middle of Lake Graham and saved a drowning swimmer's life? None. That's how many. Add to that the fact that he's a gunslinger!, and he's on the fast track to a Hall of Fame NFL career.

this statement is rediculous. i guess if one of the top 15 qb's in the nation is not big time, i hate to know your definition. I think colt could certainly play for the Bears.

I don't see his height as a big problem. He's listed as 6'3" which means he'd probably measure at 6'1 or 2 at the combines. His weight is not bad either, especially seeing that he's filling out his frame.

I do question his arm strength. he's underthrown alot of passes so i'm not sure if it's accuracy or the lack of strength.

he has potential, but the discussions may be better suited after this season is over, after we see if his accuracy improves over last year. He needs to bring the interceptions way down.

His "impressive" freshman year and his "disappointing" sophomore year are leading to confusion. Just who is Colt McCoy? This offseason, Colt has gotten bigger, more mature, and with another year in the system he's hopefully more confident and comfortable on the field. My guess is he will show up this year, though not enough to warrant an early departure for the NFL. I see Colt being a late draft pick and fighting for a backup or 3rd string spot for a while in the NFL. Anything beyond that is just too far out to predict.

But to answer the question directly: Yes, I do believe Colt will be an NFL quarterback.

I would have to say no at this point but hopefully he can prove me wrong.

Colt has good enough size, mobility, and accuracy. But his arm strength and durability are big question marks IMO.

There's no knock on Colt that can't be refuted other than arm strength, which is apparently improving with his over-all strength.

Colt had an off year. If he returns to form at all, he'll get a real shot in the league when his time comes. If you don't think so you're crazy.

The potential is definitely there. It remains to be seen if he can realize it.

And yeah, questioning whether he is a solid college QB is a joke.

not an NFL starter, but a backup NFL QB, why not? he's smart, good speed, average to below average size, decent arm strength.

I think he most certainly will be a starter in the NFL. Why? Because he has two years to continue to grow, break records, maybe even grow taller and develop a stronger arm. He will be getting Chase Daniel type attention come next year.

This O-line will make him look all world too. We have a bunch of bad asses in the trenches, and bad asses backing them up competing for playing time. Our wideouts are excellent, but not elite, as is our RB's. These are all the tools you need to showcase talent.

He will be taken in the 2nd day of the draft, back up a seasoned QB in the NFL on a good team, and get his shot. Think of Aaron Rodgers (though he was a 1st round pick) with Green Bay.

He is already emerging as a leader. Who will be better in his draft class? A few, but not many.

Some of you give no possible credit for any upside the kid may have the next 2 years.

Maybe in a couple of years he will.... have your secretary contact my secretary in May 2010 and I will let you know for sure
