I saw a roughneck get his knee dislocated in the North Sea years ago and he screamed like a banshee. I could recall his screams for years after. I don't know how Irby didn't lose it.
Many times the dislocated knee also takes out the ACL and the MCL. There was nothing about that in the article. They must have been able to get the knee back in on the field. If they didn't then Irby can take some serious pain.
I grimaced hard just watching it on TV. Best wishes (again) to Blaine for complete and speedy recovery. Can't wait to see him retake the field again, better than ever, a la Shipley
Wishing you the best, Blaine. You're one of my all-time favorite Longhorns, and I'm talking about many decades. You rank right up there with the best. I know things will work well for you. It's Good Karma from here on!
This really sucks. A good blocking & receiving TE can get your offense out of a lot of trouble. He and Colt definitely were developing some chemistry.
Who knows how this season will play out, but we may look back on this and think Irby was the last piece of the puzzle we needed to win the Bg12, or maybe even get a BCS Bowl.
Best of luck for recovery. We're going to miss you.
As much as I can stand those Fox commentators, or FSN's coverage of Texas games for that matter, I applaud the fact they refused to continue replaying the injury out of respect to Irby.
It is really classless when they keep running replays of injuries and then commenting on how they think it could be season or career ending. FSN just said it didn't look good and then kept it as upbeat as they could. Nice job fellas.
I saw the injury on TV and looked worse to me than I guess it is. Too bad, this kid looks like he could be a heck of a player and sounds like he is genuinely a nice fellow. He will be in my prayers until he is back on the field.
