so, now that the new software is out and the app store is open...

which ones are killer apps?

I have the remote control one, that i can use to remote control my laptop itunes and play music. since my macbook is wireless to my surround sound, being able to change the music playing in my house, via my compute, by simply touching my iPhone screen KICKS ***.

also, monkey ball is a great game.

MLB "At Bat" looks amazing, but I don't know if I'll purchase that one.

The Texas Hold 'em game is decent. It's basically the same one as on the iPod but with a few changes for iPhone. I just wasted a lot of time in a doctor's waiting room with that one.

The mlb.com one is only $5? I assumed it would be more or that you'd need an mlb.com premium subscription or something.

There's a Crash Bandicoot kart racer that I've seen on youtube, but I didn't see it in the App Store today. It looks great.

Is the 2.0 update available via iTunes yet?

i don;t know if the update via itunes is up yet. i did the download method earlier with no hitches though.

The update is not posted officially yet.
But so long as the apple website shows "Coming Soon" I wouldn't trust 3rd-party download sites.

Just sayin' wait a day... there's not really any benefit to hacking the restore package for an early release.

The download is from Apple but there's been some speculation that it wasn't meant for first generation iPhones but for the 3G iPhones sold tomorrow. I have had a crash with this firmware earlier, so maybe there are some differences.

Well, the software is not available via iTunes yet... what are they waiting for? It took a lot for me to wait til today... I've been expecting it for several weeks now...

they said 8am. It was 8 am in cupertino two hours ago. Its 8 central now

These guys are going to make me late for work

Anyone know how sales are going? Thinking about going to my local Apple store and purchasing one this weekend. Probably a good idea to call first to see if there are any in stock.

i am glad that i did not wait to upgrade from the official release/iTunes method.

I hadn't even considered the traffic/server issues today with all the new activations.

I'm running the new software on my old hardware.

There was a long line out the door at 10am at the S. Mopac AT&T store when I drove by.

According to sales rep in SA all stores in SA have sold out. I wasn't going to get one because I was bitching about the extra $$ per month. Just found out that I get a 19% discount on the data plan since hubby works for company. I know it's only a six dollar difference but in my head that six dollars is enough justification.

My phone (version 1) is dead. Why didn't they roll out 2.0 a few days ago? They should do a staggered release with these phones to prevent this ****.

Downloaded the 2.0 update from iTunes this morning. Update worked fine, and I'm downloading **** off the Apps store.

Statesman.com says lines are long all over town. 2-300 people in line at the Apple Store in the Domain this morning.

shazam is a great app.

you push a button and let a song play while the phone "listens". then, the app (usually) identifies it and gives you a lot of info on label/artist/release date/etc.

scottsins--

yes and yes

I tried deleting and re-installing the remote application and now it keeps telling me that my 4-digit passcode is wrong. Although it sounds nice, I'm convinced this app is worthless.
