Iowa State #6

Just goes to show All we shoulda had to do was show up this year.

we did that and we still failed.
So pissed when Sam takes that sack against ISU. Dicker makes that kick 4 yds closer. Just too many damn mistakes from fumbles to stupid penalties to dumb plays. Leaves you sitting at home hoping OU loses once again.

Disgustingly, the lowly sooners always seem to rise to the occasion and do what if takes to win a Big XII Championship. I'm pulling for ISU but suspect sooners will somehow win a close one.
I watched the OU Baylor game and thought what would be the outcome if Baylor had Iowa State’s offense? Campbell needs to watch that game film and talk with the coaches. Baylor might have the best scheme for that OU offense.

Watch Bill Bradley's defense against OU. Not since Leon Fuller have I seen anyone do that to OU's offense
I'm not looking to disparage Bradley but facts are facts. He was the DC for Baylor from '04-06.
'04. OU had 35 points and Peterson was 32/240.
'05 OU 37 points and leading rusher 173.
'06 OU 36 points and leading rusher 169.
What am I missing?

I also question that play call. Why put Sam in a position to get sacked in the first place. I'm guessing Tommy boy was just going for it yet again.

It was a long FG already. You try and get a 5 yd out or quick slant as we had a time out. That's the play. If it's not there you throw it away. That sack was on Sam. Put the blame where it belongs. A Sr. has NO reason to take that sack. He held it too long. To think I have a 50+ field goal with a time out and not try and get 5-7 more yards is just dumb. What is dummer is not throwing the ball away if the first read is covered up.

If you run the ball you're almost guaranteed 2-3 yds, but absolute worst case no gain. Give it to Bijan and statistically speaking you're looking at probably gaining more like 5-6 yards but still at least 2-4 yards.

With our craptastic pass blocking this year I don't know why getting a couple extra yards beyond the above really matters with the risk of getting sacked now in the equation and knowing Dickers range. Obviously Sam should have thrown it away and it is partially his fault, but I will maintain Herman went for it, took that risk and it cost them the game.

In hindsight we know Dicker would have made it from the original line of scrimmage, but I would have called a run anyway without knowing that. He has the leg and whether the kick is 45 yards or 50 yards has almost no bearing on his accuracy this year because he's been inconsistent. What we do/did know a sack would almost certainly take him out of range.

With our current OL, isn't Sam always in a position to be sacked? The play call wasn't the problem. The problem is Texas offensive lineman cannot block Iowa State defensive linemen. Let that sink in for a bit.

and knowing Dickers range.

He seems to have had an off year for sure. It's like he's come down with COVID of the leg or something...But, I'll cut him some slack on that 57 yarder against ISU. It had the distance, but was just a bit off target.
