Invitation to a real discussion of Obamacare

Roger, that may seem like a hassle to you, but as far as I am concerned you are a perfect example of doing things right. You have always (I assume) had coverage for yourself and your wife. You should NEVER be denied coverage and there should be no caps on coverage, because you have been responsible. I have little sympathy for those who have rolled the dice, though. They are the ones who should have to pay huge premiums if something goes wrong, or settle for palliative care only. If I sound like an evil person, then show me one - one - example of an insurance company agreeing to paying for fire or hurricane damage for someone who is not insured. I know people without insurance can go bankrupt now whether it is health, home, liability, etc. Their choice. I am not wealthy but after seeing my MIL eat up her entire life savings on care to keep her in her home, I'm getting long-term care insurance so I never have to rely on the benevolence of Uncle Sam. I also have never been uninsured for my house (and before that apartment), car or health. If I had not done this, I would have had a lot more expendable income, so not having it is a choice, and a risk I was never willing to take.

I don't want a pat on the back, I just DON'T want to pay for someone else's decision to spend that money on something else.

Obamacare. Rammed through in the middle of the night, without anyone having read it, and using the most sleazy, scumball political tactics we have seen in our lifetimes. It included the largest tax increase in Gallactic history, which Obama and the Dems swore was not the case.

Nancy Pelosi said we would have to pass the bill to find out what was in it. Now the Supreme Court has read it and found it to be constitutionally acceptable only under the taxing powers.

Obamacare must be overturned. It must be cast onto the ash-heap of history.

The pre-existing deal is just not workable. Why should a company take someone with serious medical problems at the same rate as the "healthy" person? Texas has the high-risk pool that one of my sons is in. Not perfect by any means but it is coverage for an amount that is not out of sight.

What I like...
-stay on parents plan until 26
-pre-existing coverage easier
-theoretically everybody will pay into the pool

the goals of ACA were admirable, the execution/implementation is crap.

Insurance should not be part of the employment contract. Individualy choice is the only factor that will tame health care cost.

de-coupling employment from insurance would free individuals to retain their coverage across employers and enable employers to focus on core business issues rather than psuedo health care experts.
