Interesting Comments by Jermichael

UT4evr with the call of the day...

not only "is chiles next" but how much will our current crop of underutilized half-man, half-amazing athletes hurt us with recruits

call JMike's comments what you will, judge him for them if you see fit, bottom line is the guy needed the ball more. he was a mismatch waiting to happen

Everybody wants the ball, no fault there. But every player should also put the team above himself. Crying about about it after the fact is a good way to tell your teammates, "You didn't deserve your touches because I'm better than you."

Specifically calling out your offensive coordinator seems like a crappy way to endear yourself to other potential coaches at the combine.

TexasJack, you are greatly undermining David Thomas. He was incredibly versatile and reliable and made some spectacular catches for us in his 4 years here.

Colt McCoy did not have time to go through his progressions for much of the year. I obvisouly did not see the coaches film, so I wonder if he was working to get open when all of those plays were breaking down. I also think Colt looks for the deep ball a lot more than Vince did. His forcing of those passes led to a lot of his T/O problems.

Texas Jack, no offense, but I've got to ask where you got your stats. Because according to Mack's site (www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/000_stats/05/teamcume.htm), the only tight ends that caught passes in 2005 were Thomas (50), Tweedie (2), and Ullman (1).

50 + 2 + 1 = 53, not 63.

So the difference between TE receptions in 2005 and TE receptions in 2007 was a whopping 4 passes. Sure, the ratio of TE passes to completed passes was different, ,but c'mon man. We're not talking about a big discrepancy here.

"Our TE's got only 17.6% of the balls in 07 while our TE's got 28.9% in 05."

Because your stats are off, this is also wrong. In '05, our TE's caught 24% of the completed passes. Again, not what I'd call a big discrepancy.

"DT played four years and didn't put down Greg Davis and our offense, that makes him a better player."

Doesn't make him a better player. It makes him a better person. Thanks for playing.

10 catches in the NC game pretty much says it all for DT.

Now the angle that has been completely overlooked is that Colt looked more to Nate Jones on 3rd downs last year (the usual tight end down). Some QBs just get comfortable with a receiver. Vince tended to look to DT. Just the way it is. For a TE to get 43 catches and drop enough to get him to 50 and whine is beyond me. I still wish him the best, but time to grow up.

How did this thread tank so quickly? DT is one of the reasons we won that little game at the Rose Bowl. You cannot discredit what he did for this team...doesn't matter how he stacks up against Finley's physical attributes.

DT had sick hands..got open..blocked...and did whatever it took for this team. Finley is a beast of a man and will hopefully blossom into a great TE in the league. But bashing a team you left all of two months ago is just immature ********.

Then again, the guy has 3 kids and is leaving school early to be a 4th or 5th rounder...so obviously decision making skills aren't his best asset.
