I went and looked at the sewer in question and I have two responses:
1) Unless it has changed in size since 1963, there is no way an adult with a rifle can fit into it
2) How is it possible that somebody firing from ground/sewer level that close to the car could have fired upward into it to hit a passenger who would have been presumably sitting at about 4.5 feet above the ground? It defies physics.
