Art Vandelay, how do you interpret his statement? I've asked several times in this thread how others interpret the comment. No one has volunteered any response.

BernOrange, as I mentioned earlier, serving your country can come in the form of public service or military service. I think he's talking about getting young people more involved in the betterment of their country, whether it's through military service, politics, government work/civil service, or volunteer work.

That's how I interpret his comment.

I sincerely hope you guys are right and his reference to his own military service preceeding the statement is just a coincidence and not relevant for context.
