Incriminating evidence against Chinese gymnasts

Saw that linked from Slashdot yesterday.

Apparently the IOC has as much balls as the NCAA, which is to say, none.

I don't expect the IOC to do anything while in China or while they have members there. They would want to get out and not killed or sent to some prison. I expect a lot of people to say a lot of things when the games are over.

I expect the dislike of China to grow beyond where it ever has been from these games. This is quite the opposite of what the Chinese officials wanted.

They'll just hire a couple of Oklahoma University publicists to try to convince us that everyone cheats, they just got caught.

The Link This site lists Yang Yilin as being born 0n 8-26-93. Meaning she will turn 15 in a few days. It is not as official as what the blogger found but you can find stuff all over the place listing them as having different birthdays.

One the olympics are over the IOC has no reason to kiss China's *** anymore and I bet they let loose the dogs. China has made a laughingstock of the IOC with these games anyway and they are probably pissed.

They can take away the medels whenever they want so why not wait a few days more?

You are our man in Amsterd...Hong Kong San. It will be cool to hear the buzz where you live.

Non Chinese are appalled - Chinese are not and say a) shes of age or b) shes not but who cares

Now that the proof is coming out they went from cocky to angry overnight - now the Chinese including the fiance wont talk about it.

They are going to lose major face when they lose their medals.

If you mention the disparity in golds and overall medals when there are no judges they become infuriated.

Fiance said that no matter what proof was presented she will believe the Beijing govt.

I told her she spent to much time in a reeducation camp. I think im getting no sx tonight

this from a "chinese" girl born in HK that fled to Canada in 1986, wen to U chicago and got a masters in London and is now back in HK (since it's safe) and is fnanatically pro china in the olympics.

What about Canada (she's a citizen of Canada and HK)? "they wont win anything"

Heh.

The Link

So much for the investigation. Its already over. China showed them a birth certificate. They're satisfied. Investigation over. Wow. The IOC has no clue how to save face. If you're not really gonna investigate, at least pretend to investigate for more than half a day.

HinHK- as a married man, let me warn you, be very very careful here. You've got some latitude since you are still only engaged (I'm sure you understand the whole concept of negotiating leverage considering your line of work), but that is going to end soon. These shenanigans of yours will not play well in a year.

I too am skeptical about whether the International Gymnastics Federation will do anything soon. It would not be unprecedented for them to punish a country for such an age infraction. They nailed Korea and some other eastern European country (I think) for doing something similar in the past. Right now, it looks like the IOC and the IGF are just dancing around and not trying to step on China's toes. Once the games are over, the real fun should begin.

I would hate to be in the position of the US gymnastics team. Yes, it would be great to win the team gold and the other individual medals, but not by default. Clearly it's still speculation, but if China cheated, they not only ruined this competition for themselves, but also for their opponents. I'd feel the same way if VY won the Heisman because Reggie Bush had to give it up due to his issues. It's still a great achievement, but I think it would be difficult to accept.

The other thing that is really getting to me is the defenses China is putting up. The officials and coaches are saying things like [paraphrasing] "You have to respect us and our athletes". Maybe this is just a western thing, but you really need to earn respect; you don't get it by pleading for it. Transparency and cooperation will go a long way toward earning respect. They keep sending out their gov't documents, but they don't address the possibility of forgeries. To my knowledge, they have yet to explain the webpages linked above indicating He is 14.

Popped collar alert:

Kind of off topic, but check out the guy in the video. He comes on at about 1/4 of the way through the video. Keep in mind he's the IOC sports director.

In the future the IOC may need to use well trained forensic experts to examine younger looking athletes to be sure they are of age. Either that or do away with the rule on age limits.

On that document he found where line 799 is He Kexin. Line 551 is Yang Yilin and it lists her birthday as 8-26-1993. Just as that Chinese sports page I found earlier stated.

Seems that the IOC is now back on the investigation, sort of. They are now asking the officials who first provided the false information for more information. That makes sense. As somebody on the radio said, that is like asking a criminal if he did the crime. Are you sure you did not do the crime?

There is no way the IOC comes down on China after they took so many bribes and kickbacks from China to award them Olympics.

It might be unusual to you but here in the USA we welcome differing opinions. US writers are free to express themselves any way they choose, including trying to hawk papers on shock value while swimming upstream to popular belief that China is a lying joke of a sack of ****.

Easily the worst poster to post from Hong Kong on this site, bar none. Cheater, cheater pumpkin eater. But if I lived in a country like China I would prob. say things like that as well. Oh well.

No, what you and China seem to readily ignore is the rest of the worlds sense of fair play. Directly in contrast to the spirit of these games. If an American athlete is doping as was alluded to in that article then the general populace in America would be ashamed and embarrassed that a cheater took the chance of another athlete to rightfully enjoy the moment of being the best at the Olympics- As per the evidence of the cheating *** Chinese this is something the Chinese dont understand. They cheat to elevate their perception to the world, the disgust the world feels is because they willingly spit in the face of the spirit of the games and the true athletes that are competing that had their chance stolen by a Rotten Lying Chinese government. Its as simple as that.

BTW who are the naive people? I blame the knowing Chinese people that dont stand for what is right. They are as bad as the Chinese government
