Incarnate Word vs. Texas

Pimp Daddy
The last game before the first conference series of the season is the Incarnate Word Cardinals. I'm sure we will see the arms not used against Stanford get some work tonight. It's the last chance for the freshman to make an impression and make the squad for conference play.

In that regard freshman right hander Tyler Schimpf, with start and no doubt followed the other freshmen and maybe an inning for Travis Duke, who had only one shaky inning of relief work in Palo Alto.

I'm off to dig up the starting lineups.

The Incarnate Word lineup:

Mark Whitehead-CF
Matt Morris-RF
Jesse Hoover-LF
Austin Hoffman-SS
Ethan McGill-1B
Christian Divelbiss-DH
Brance Kahle-3B
Colton Besett-C
Trey Rodriguez-2B
Cody Richey-P

Texas lineup:

Ben Johnson-LF
Collin Shaw-RF
C.J. Hinojosa-SS
Tres Barrera-C
Brooks Marlow-2B
Bret Boswell-3B
Michael Cantu-1B
Taylor Stell-DH
Zane Gurwitz-CF
Tyler Schimpf-RHP

It is respectable for the Horns to play in them in pre-Big XII baseball, but not for Baylor to schedule them for an OCC football game.

Nonetheless, Go Horns!!!

Right hander Tyler Schimpf toes the rubber for Texas in his first ever start, but there will be many pitchers used by Texas in this game as they prep for conference play.

Took care of business in game one of the "easy" remaining March stretch. Let's kickoff conference play and spring break with a sweep of West Virginia!

Texas wins a game that it should win and gets to look at some young arms in the process. The return of Ty Marlow to the pitching staff adds yet another dimension that Skip can use in the future.

We saw something if you have LHN that is, that Longhorn fans haven't seen in a long time and that was back to back long balls from first Barrera and then Marlow. Boswell added two well hit doubles and that was more than enough
to win this one.

So Texas opens conference play this weekend against a not exactly strong WVU squad at the Disch. You would hope for not less than two of three and really a sweep against a team not expected to do well in the Big 12 when you have them at home. There should be a good crowd as the weather finally starts to heat up. Everybody can't go to SXSW can they?

Should be a good time at the ballpark and I am looking forward to it and I hope you are too.:hookem2::bevo:
