In light of SI having TT ranked 8th

Everyone knows Tech's weakness the last few years has been d-line.

That issue has been addressed and this year unit will look nothing like last year's.

The player thought to have been ruled ineligible is still up in the air. At issue is not his grade but instead a class taken while at JUCO.

Ever notice that people often preface controversial assertions of fact with the phrase "Everybody knows...," as if that settles the issue? Maybe it's a Tech thing.

In any case, Tech has had decent DLs in the recent past, including when they had Keyunta Dawon at DE. We'll find out exactly what "has been addressed" once Tech finishes its JV non-conference schedule in late September. IMO, the LB corps has been their real weakness (as it has been for UT since about '04). Tech hasn't fielded a real playmaker at LB since Lawrence Flugence left. Also, lest we let the secondary off the hook, it wasn't the DL or the LBs whom Colt tuned up in '06 while leading the comeback in Lubbock.

Honestly, I root for Tech when we're not playing them, but all this premature ejaculation by Tech fans and the media amuses me. Since when do you get to pretend, before the season starts, that you're a contender for something (the Big XII South) that you've never won and never really come close to winning? Without doing a damned thing against a D-1 opponent on a football field? Like I said, amusing...

That Jeff Leiding hit was amazing. His first play in his first game as a Longhorn, opening kickoff, I guess he was pumped up beyond belief. The kick is made, wedge forms, runs upfield, and Leiding approaches full speed, dives up and over the line of blockers like a ground-to-air missile, eventually returns to earth, and the return man is ground zero. I believe there was a delay to fill in the crater created in the field by the nuclear blast.
But I'll still take Richard Peavy's hit on Marcus Dupree, and don't leave out Stony Clark from the discussion.

This is a Longhorn board and as a Tech fan and new poster I want to be respectful of that and try not to be just a huge Tech homer.

I've been reading this board for a long time. You guys have some great discussions over here while also being entertaining as well.

I thought I'd create an account to give you a little more of the Tech POV.

Good D does start on the line. Any weaknesses in the LBs and DBs are magnified by a poor line. Flip side tho, a good line can make LBs and Dbs better.

Tech has improved their line....on paper. I'll grant you that since no games have been played yet.

I think Tech has a chance to be good. Real good. Could be a special season. But yes, it's time they prove it on the field.

I don't think anyone goes through the conference slate unblemished. And I won't be surprised to see the south champ have two losses again.

Edit.

I vote for the Brackens hit. Even tho it was against a kicker...it was still brutal.

I recall Kingsbury getting knocked senseless and I think he had come in as the 2d qb after the starter had been knocked senseless. I don't remember the year or who delivered the hits, but I remember the kid looked like his eyes had been replaced with half dollars as they led him slowly off the field. Am I recalling an earlier halucination? Nothing I can find on youtube.
