So I ordered Direct TV last week to get Sunday Ticket. I had it a couple of years ago, and was excited to get it back now that I have a house.
WELL....my installation was cancelled. After two days of calling trying to get to the special department that I needed to talk to, I finally found out the problem.
Apparently, back in 2004 someone had Direct TV at my address. They let their bill default, and the account was sent to a collection agency. Now DTV is telling ME that I need to clear the $200 balance on the account in order to get new service.
In nicer words, I asked "Why the **** should I have to pay for someone else's defaulted balance when I have no clue who the flying fuk they are?"
He responds, "DTV, as a private company has the ability to do that. And our policy is that once an address has an account in default, service can not be turned on again at that address until the balance is cleared"
So I respond, "Even if I just moved in"
Him, "Yes"
Me, "Well I guess DTV is not in the business of making money as you would get that $200 back in 2 months of me paying my bill, not too smart.
Him, "DTV, as a private company has the ability to set our own conditions, and our policy is...BLAH BLAH F'n BLAH
I talked to 3 people, SUPPOSEDLY more important as the calls went on...same mess. I really want Sunday Ticket, but Im not about to give them $200...thats just BS.
