I'm afraid of Colorado

How can our players and BlowU players not be looking forward to Oct. 11?

Trouble is, OU is playing Baylor. We're playing CU -- at Folsom. I recall what happened to OU there ... put a damper on the whole State Fair weekend.

What can we do to keep focusness?

Think of it as a perfect opportunity to start off the Big XII by showing the rest of the conference we are coming to whip all their asses.

Don't be afraid of Colorado.

A few things to remember.

1. This was supposed to be our bye week. The staff had long ago circled the game in Boulder as as the measure of where this team is and whether they could do more than just compete against ou and mizzou but BEAT them.

2. Phase I was teaching and learning, especially for the defense. Phase II, which started this week with HillbillyU is read and react rather than read, THINK and react. You've seen Muschamp start to turn up the looks of the defense and now they're getting it.

3. Expect some mistakes in Boulder. But they should be minor and how they overcome them, in front of a hostile crowd and in altitude will be the measure of what I discussed in point 1.

There will be questions throughout the year. Like the running game and tight end. But remember, if you could have written a script for staying under the radar to keep the pressure off, still have everyone assume that ou and mizzou are going to kill you, and then sneak up, stand up and bust'em all in the mouth and keep coming back for more, this season would be that script. So, no, I don't think that this team will look past CU. They know what this games means...as do the coaches.

Oh, and by the way, Phase III, the final stage for this team? Kill everybody!

Hook'em!

I am exited about Colorado for the very reasons the poster above mentioned on defense.....we got a glimpse yesterday of what Muschamp is bringing in the way of creative pressure....but we didn't see all of it.

That Q package on offense is just to give the opposition some film to consider...so far I have just seen us hand off to McGee out of it, but I think that will be expanded.

I think we beat Colorado handily.

It is the next two that will define the season.

For reasons I'm not really able to put into words, I think this team pays attentiion....and will not be looking ahead. I think the bye week thing could have been a distraction, but obviously it was not. Something about these kids and their "focusness"....

If you are scared of colorado you do not know our team very well.

We are better than them in every aspect of the game, including the psychological.

I don't post much on hf anymore, but this was worth responding to.

You think the team thinks like that? I hope not!

I don't see Colorado being much of a factor in the north this year. From what we have seen so far this year it is all Missouri and Kansas.

I admit, I too was a little worried about CU before this week. But, now I sincerely believe that we should beat them by 30. WVU is just that bad. And FSU is no great shakes either.

My confidence is bolstered by the fact this may be the first time -- even including 2005 -- that I have total confidence in (a) the coaches, (b) the talent, (c) the players who have that talent, and (d) badass attitude.

They are all on the same page. And it's a nasty page.

Will Muschamp has infected the entire program. This team reminds me of the way Stoops 2000 team played. Ball was snapped (either side of the ball) and his players were everywhere and anywhere they wanted to be. Fast. With authority. Relentless. In your face. Dominating.

Texas will impose their will on Colorado. Progressively, as the game unfolds. Relentlessly. Shamelessly.

I am not scared of Colorado. The only point of wariness would be looking ahead to OU. CU's best lineman, Ryan Miller, is now out, further decimating their offensive line. I have a feeling we've going to be in their backfield early and often.

i think there is one things that has been a bit over looked the last few games. Batted balls. This is key especially against shorter QB's. Cody Hawkins is 5-11 and if we don't get to him we'll knock the ball down. I think Texas might lead the country in this category. It's important that our defense does what it can to hold the CU offense down. Our offense will be just fine.

I am not really impressed by Colorado, but I do think they will be tougher at home. We need to take them seriously and maintain focusness. They will be a good test for our D, but I honestly don't know how they will slow down our O barring catastrophic injury. If we play as well as we played Piggy yesterday, we win going away, though I am not sure about a blowout.

Night games on the road always have me a little worried. Our team is young and developing. But we're playing very well and improving week to week.

CU seems to be going the other direction. If I was Coach Hawkins, I would be worried about my son's health and well being when Texas takes the field. He'll probably tell him to get rid of the ball quickly and call plays accordingly. Quick slants and the like put the WR's in harms way.

Plus, I think we'll be in our stormtrooper gear, which is always a treat.

I was a lil concerned, until yesterday. Muschamp will have the D fired up, which will help the O. Also, FSU couldn't find the endzone against Wake, yet they put up 30+ on CU. Colt's gonna have a big game.

Actually, I like playing this game b4 0u, as it gives the team a chance get tough mentally. Cause I'm sure sometime during the game, they will face a make or break moment and if they can overcome that, then when it comes the next week(and it will), the team will be ready.

I too am a little scared of the buffs. However, if we play like I know we can we will take care of them and our only (possible) losses will be o.u and k.u. We will beat misery and tech. Remember you heard it here first. I like this team. They are fun to watch and it is only going to get better.

Our o line is young, R Miller is hurtin, Cody couldnt hit the rocky mtns during a punt pass & kick competition and coach boom will be sending this new killer instinct d at us, that will make fsu's d look like a powder puff squad. Which we all know how that turned out. It will be very ugly.

I hope this game has the team's attention...it's a possible trap game. Ask okie. Speaking of the toothless ones, my concern is that Texas will be thinking too much about the RRR, and not enough about the Buffs. Texas should win, but expecting us to lay another 70 on 'em is a pipedream. I'll be real happy if we get out of Boulder with a win of any kind, THEN start thinking about zero-U.

I think it will be close in the 1st, then Texas will put the petal to the metal and CU wont score again until a worthless late 4th quarter TD. Texas 56 to 13

The best thing about this ballgame, in my opinion, is that hopefully we will finally be tested. We have got to play one where there is at least some adversity (night, crowd, etc). Of courses, beating the not out of them, at their house, would be very satisfying, but I just don't think we will know where we are until we play someone competitive. I was hoping that Arkansas would provide the test we needed, but...

My two cents.

Hook 'em
