If Ike comes to Sinton

Bill in Sinton

I may be without power for a while so I won't be able to watch the game if so but I will try to listen on the radio. I am going to be boarding my house and stay put. I don't want to get caught on the road like a lot of people did in Rita. I will still fly my flag unless it is raining because it means too much for me to let it get rained on. SInton is a little inland so we should get the big winds as the area right on or off the coast but maybe a little wind. Our main worries will be possible flooding and tornadoes. Fortunately my house is on a high area.
But actually I will be very worried about some of you. I hope the game goes on ok and that you can cheer extra loud for me. If I never return after the storm hits it will mean I didn't survive. If that is the case keep focused and keep cheering the Horns for me. But I think I will be all right.
In fact I will be worried about you as I have mentioned because if the storm comes here I will be as ready as I can be since we are warned and will be in shelter. What I am worried is that if it movies inland toward your area some of you might get caught in it unawares because of the rain and tornadoes it might result. I have seen this happen before. My prayers will be with you all to keep you safe and get us all reunited here after the storm and we can keep cheering our Horns to victory. Go Horns! Beat Arkansas!

BIll-

I applaud your effort to maintain focusness and priorities even in the face of a natural disaster.

Bravo, Sir, Bravo.

If I don't return after the Arkiesaw game, it's probably because we lost and I got drunk and was too pissed off to post.

Be safe Bill in Sinton.

Bill,

My prayers will be with you and all the folks who are in Ike's path.

Be safe, my friend, and Hook 'em!

If I dont return, it must have been that some rogue, Ike-spawned tornado brought me down. I still want all of you to know how much I enjoyed reading your posts and that I truley tried to contribute to the discussions. Bill, I will never forget the time I spent looking for a warranty deed in the San Patricio Courthouse there in Sinton.

My relatives in Angleton are keenly watching Ike as well, although it seems to be taking a more favorable track away from them of late. Still, it's not something I would wish on anyone. We endured a week of August heat without power after Alicia in 1983, so I know all too well what the aftermath can be like.

Be sure to keep plenty of extra batteries on hand for your radio to keep the Horns on, if you can. Not to mention lots of extra beer (if you happen to be so inclined) and all the usual rations of water and canned food.

I'll certainly do my part to maintain focusness on the Horns this Saturday. I'll also maintain some extra focusness to root for Ike to come ashore along that sparsely-populated stretch of Padre between Corpus and Brownsville, so it will minimally impact people. Though again, not that I would wish it on anyone.

Take care of yourself, and stay safe.

Bill, I will be thinking of you and this song as Hurricane Ike decides to fly his flag and high five the Texas coast with a spirit and focussness not seen since the '63 game against TCU.

I sat out a couple of these monsters in a town about thirty miles inland from Bill some years ago. They are no fun even inland and the tornadoes and flooding are very dangerous.

Which is why I run away when one gets withing a few hundred miles. bill is fortunate because he has tasty taco to retreat to when the eye passes over sinton.

Be careful Bill...I hate to think how badly we'd lose focus without you to remind us. Strap yourself to a telephone pole and start giving news reports if Ike comes your way. Who knows...it worked for Dan Rather.

Bill, if Ike maintains its projected course, then I'll wave in your direction as I bug out from Corpus Christi.

Good luck and God be with you. The most important thing is to make a decision and prepare for the worst. If you're leaving, leave early. If you're staying, make sure you have more than enough fresh water and canned food. Don't change your mind and try to haul at the last minute, unless a man with a badge makes you.

Bill, get the hell out of Sinton and come to Houston. I'll put you up and you can hang your flag outside right next to mine. I'll make room for it. We'll have plenty of cold cervezas, some BBQ and root for the Horns on the big screen. Oh, I forgot, I'm going to the game. Doesn't matter, I'll leave a key out for you!

Bill!!! You gotta be safe man!! I gotta get those tickets to ya!! Send me your address so that just in case something does hit Sinton, I'm gonna bring myself down that way to look for you!!

Make sure you have extra batteries, water, canned food, etc.. on hand. I'm sure you know this though! Stay safe and God bless!!

for bill and take care of yourself. i for one can't imagine a world without focusness and without you flying the flag in Sinton!

Thanks everyone. But you stay safe also. At least I am having warning and will be prepared. It is you I am concerned about with the risk of unexpected floods and tonados up the country that happens quite often. I will be busy soon and may not be posting for a while but keep the Synergy going and I will fly my UT flag as long as weather permits. After the storm I will probably be voluntering to help the Sheriff Department answering emergency phones after Ike is gone. Take Care. And Horns beat Arkansas!
